Chris Arreola VS Wladimir Klitschko unification
Let's suppose Wladimir (very likely) successfully defends against Leapai soon and also somewhat likely Arreola will avenge against Stiverne and secure the WBC belt.
What are the odds against Arreola being able to do the improbable and dethrone Klitschko?
Of course the favourite could only be Wladimir but of all the active contenders atm (that's Haye excluded) it's my opinion that Arreola (that being a reasonably in shape Arreola) is possibly the strongest opponent that Wladimir could face atm.
See to me, no other HW ticks all the boxes like Chris does..
- He is 6'4" that's good, and weighs in at 240lbs, again, that's good! So he is big enough.
- He fights at a very hard pace, most fighters can't keep up with that.
- He is pretty quick
- He is strong and durable
- He hits really hard
- He has an excellent chin and punch resistance
- He has solid boxing skills, fighting spirit and instinctive boxing brain.
- He has the stamina of a mule
Not many HW's can claim good measure of all of these things, it's an impressive package.
To back it up he has a good record against good opponents. Even his losses, the last one was a fluke, one of them was against a Klitschko anyway which can't really be knocked. He could have even survived it at the expense of getting badly hurt but in any case finished on his feet. The only real embarrassing loss was against Adamek.
If this eventuates I think I will lay a decent bet on Arreola to win by KO. I can see him forcing his way past the jab and roughing Wlad up. Just because if it pans out I think there'll be a decent pay out!! :)
Thoughts???

he's easy to hit and keep off as seen against Vitali and Adamek, swells pretty easy, and his stamina isn't as good as you say, Wlad will keep him at bay with his jab, and occasionally throw in the right hand, then mix it up with the hook off the jab, and then eventually either have it down to a pattern or pick it up a bit and stop him, I'd give Nipple a 10% chance of getting a shot in that holds any real weight
Re: Chris Arreola VS Wladimir Klitschko unification
in that scenario i know exactly what will happen
round one wlad will come out holding and in total hold more than he punches in the round
round 2 - 9ish will be exactly the same
round 10 areola might fall over with exchaustion due to being lent on constantly
the worst case scenario would be areola to last the distance and then we would have to see 12 rounds of holding
the best case scenario is something happens that puts wlad is put under a bit of pressure, in the case the ref will do a piece of hurrendous refereeing and areola will get a point or 2 deducted and wlad will be given a minute or 2 to recover if needed, at least then there will be something to chuckle at

so all in all you give Arreola a better chance than Haye, cause all Haye did was try to suck Wlad's dick to the point that he got it counted as a knockdown as a result of him being on his knees half the time
Re: Chris Arreola VS Wladimir Klitschko unification
Arreola could ICE Wlad , he would go down fighting even if he didn't win.
Re: Chris Arreola VS Wladimir Klitschko unification
Arreola does have heart, but please explain to me one thing...
How is a guy who lost to Stiverne and was outboxed by Adameck going to beat Wladimir?

I dunno, maybe he'll get the Eye of the Tiger...

Or lucky , he does have power.

no no, Areola has no chance what so ever
if he makes any headway in the fight whatsoever wlad will just be allowed to extra double hold, which is really what he does anyway but i think you catch my drift :)

yeah he would have to land one punch that ends the fight tho, if he lands one that wobbles wlad the ref and officials will go to extreme lengths to ensure that wlad recovers
and like i say above if he starts landing punches to any measure that is unacceptable wlad will just be alllowed hold more until areola is too tired to throw those types of punches again
Re: Chris Arreola VS Wladimir Klitschko unification
Arreola would be lucky to win his WBC fight. If he loses to Stiverne he'll more than likely retire.

Agree first thing first win the title. Then defend it against a big money and easy fight, then lose it against Wlad. It is the blue print from David Haye.
Re: Chris Arreola VS Wladimir Klitschko unification
Well eric one thing I can say for sure is that there will not be a whole lot of holding against Arreola.
When have you seen Wad excessively hold a tall opponent? Never! He holds the short asses because their whole game plan is to rush in on him the whole fight and he has plenty of opportunity to get the job done that way.
Against larger opponents it's punch speed and punch power that wins him the fight.
But I do declare that Arreola's chances are still not great but I do feel that Chris has possibly the best chance.
I consider Stiverne lucky anyway and the Adamek did him in by flipping around the ring, not the stand up fight that Wlad would be. Different kind of fighter, different kind of fight.
I think if he does beat Stiverne that Chris warrants a serious look in. Because it would be the most dangerous opponent he has faced in quite a while. Povetkin is good but him aside I don't think he's faced a serious opponent since his last fight with Thompson.
Arreola sure as heck will be a bigger test than bloody Leapai!!! lol
Re: Chris Arreola VS Wladimir Klitschko unification
I dont think arreola is going to beat stiverne, I think the outcome will be pretty similar...
I also dont think arreola has much of a chance v wladimir and I dont think wlad woudl hold much either against arreola, I think arreola would catch a few jabs and hooks and slow right down and have the aggression drained from him and wladimir would be happy to jab jab jab jab... jab jab hook... maybe a right hand every so often.. Dont think arreola has that big a reach or is quick or mobile enough to get close enough to wladimir to make him hold.. Arreola is pretty tough though so i dont see it getting stopped(he wasnt properly stopped v vitali)but there are better opponents out there to give wladimir a test.
