Riddick Bowe 92 vs Mike Tyson 88
Alright let's do another tough one.
I seen good evenly matched hypos that could have happened like Moorer/Mercer.
Now who would prevail and how would this one go?
I see this as a closely competitive affair with high uncertainty and could be a major war!
Re: Riddick Bowe 92 vs Mike Tyson 88
I would take the best of Bowe over any version of Tyson.
I just think that Bowe is tougher when it comes down to it and I believe he can take as much as he dishes out.
Tyson would try to fight in close quarters but bowe's inside game would be too much for him.
Re: Riddick Bowe 92 vs Mike Tyson 88
Tyson did have a good chin too though, but he was KO'd though. In his prime though Tyson was very fast and more powerful than anybody Bowe faced.
The biggest problem I see for Tyson is dealing with the height and range difference of Bowe.
Tyson did beat guys of similar size to Bowe but they were all bums.
I cannot write off Mike in this fight but I will lean toward a Bowe victory if I had to choose as well.
On the other hand Bowe was not all that hard to hit and on the inside he could be subjected to Tysons crisp and powerful fast combinations that would rock Bowe. However the Buster fight kind of goes a long way to mitigating that threat and proving that a guy like Riddick could also handle Tyson, probably even better.
Many would defend Tyson here though by claiming that that version of Tyson Buster beat was not prime or suffered drug problems at the time. But I think that Tyson was pretty close to prime.
I still consider later versions of Tyson to be extremely dangerous anyway, despite the losses to Holyfield who was a bad style match up for him at his degenerated slugger style. I think against certain opponents the heftier later Tyson would have been just as dangerous.
But probably not for Bowe!
Re: Riddick Bowe 92 vs Mike Tyson 88
Prime Tyson was also one of the most elusive HW's of all time too. Bowe was good and would have landed often enough sure but I think Tyson would still make him miss a lot and capitalise on it.
I really would not want to bet on this outcome at all!
Mike Tyson vs Reggie Gross was my favourite example of Tyson's defensive capabilities. Simply awesome!
Re: Riddick Bowe 92 vs Mike Tyson 88
Tyson KO 1 left hook like he did against Williams. Bowe could not live with Tyson and his inside fighting.

You cannot compare a borderline career bum like Williams to Bowe. Sure Carl was much better than his record suggested but he had nowhere near the chin, power, weight of Bowe and not quite the skill either.
I strongly disagree that Tyson, if he does win, manages it in 1 round. He took more than a round to finish heaps shitter opponents than Riddick.

Does not matter how good you are if you get hit right by Tyson, it is the end. Bowe was vulnerable to the left hook, think Holyfield in their 3rd fight and imagine Tyson landing that.

Yeah I agree with you there that Tyson could knock Bowe out, he could knock anybody out. But you gotta remember that Bowe handled Holyfield who worked Tyson out, Buster had similarities to Bowe who managed to survive Tyson's left hook.
Hell Donovan Ruddock managed to whether many rounds of punishment from Tyson. It can be shown clearly that as Tyson's opponents got progressively larger and more skilled, his performance declined against them.
Tyson never knocked out an opponent 6'4" or greater like Bowe who did not have a poor record.
Yeah Bowe wasn't that hard to hit I said that and that's why I think it's a very difficult fight to predict as there is also a case for Bowe. I'm not saying Tyson couldn't KO him but if he does I think it's highly unlikely to be in the first round.
You are massively underrating the 92 Bowe.
Re: Riddick Bowe 92 vs Mike Tyson 88
You are under rating Tyson. Mike beat big fighters like Tucker and Briggs with ease. I was half joking with the 1 round KO but a victory would happen.

And those were good fighters and victories but I think Bowe was better than them.
I don't underrate Tyson, I think he was one of the best.
Well if you were exaggerating then I really have no argument left because you could be right.
Re: Riddick Bowe 92 vs Mike Tyson 88
If I took those years exactly I'd edge towards Riddick. Tyson's peak of his powers were in 1986-7ish for me when he still had that great head movement and threw those amazing old school combinations with lightening speed.
Early developer.

As you guys know im not a huge fan of Tyson , however lets be honest its hard to see Bowe living 2 rounds with a prime Tyson , to be fair I think Bowe would be beaten before he stepped into the ring , I think he would have shit his pants looking at Tyson.
Tyson - TKO 1 / 2.

Tyson - TKO 1 / 2.
The major objection I have to that as I've been saying to Master, is to look at the calibre and quality of the fighters Tyson was knocking out in 1-2 rounds back in his prime. They were nothing the level of Bowe. Likewise Bowe was never really beaten convincingly by Holyfield over 3 fights, the 2nd one was pretty close. And even if you give Golota those fights he messed up look at the condition of Bowe by then.
I usually rate Bowe and Tyson evenly matched and I can definitely see a Tyson KO as a plausible outcome but I reckon he is more durable than that!
Bowe was no wimp, he had other issues such as laziness and food.

I know all the facts and my opinion stands.
Re: Riddick Bowe 92 vs Mike Tyson 88
Toughie... but I think the Bowe that kicked Holyfield's ass would have taken Tyson to a decision and won it out...
