I blame Hop. Roy didn't need Hop and Roy had a win over Hop. If Hop really wanted revenge he would have taken the 40%. It was all a sham, he knew Roy wouldn't give him 50/50. Hop always has an angle, he's always looking for an advantage. It was no coincidence the fight happened after we were absolutely sure Roy was finished.

Roy was totally justified in wanting a 60-40 split at that point, he'd been a dominant champion for a lot longer and won the first fight, plus he would've have to drop some weight by the sounds of. If a fighter expects a bigger champion to drop below their division for a fight, that should always be reflected in the purse split imo. I think if Hopkins was really confident he would have probably taken it, after all he fought nobody else worth a damn until Oscar a couple of years later.

Roy was right in demanding the bigger purse, and if that fight happened at that time Roy would have ate him up. Roy was really peaking at that time and was at 175 for several years.

Bhop was hoping to get Roy to drain himself and come in flat. Was never gonna happen.

Roy gets shit from idiots with no knowledge of the situation, who say he ducked this guy, that guy, blah blah blah.

Here's the bottom line: Roy was the #1 fighter in the world. The UNDISPUTED p4p, the king of boxing in a time where they had a lot of superstars and great fighters in boxing. These guys that Roy supposedly ducked - Hopkins, Eubank, Benn, Tiger, whoever - it was up to these guys to get the fight with Roy. You don't make demands of the #1. You don't demand he comes over to your country, or comes down to your weight class, or splits 50/50. That's nonsense.

These guys didn't want the fight that bad, because they knew Roy was next to impossible to beat and he'd probably make you look like shit in the process.

Hopkins priced himself out of the fight purposely. He couldn't have beaten Roy at that time and knew it.

What makes me laugh is when idiots say roy never went overseas to face dariusz michawski or however u spell his fuckin name.

Roy was the king of the fuckin jungle and he didn't have to move for anybody. Fighters were supposed to go to him and they didn't.
