Fights Arum is offering Pac for extension

Arum is so FOS. First, he won't do a Sergio fight, Pac doesn't fight southpaws. 2nd, 3 of those guys Bob doesn't control so he doesn't need Bob and we all know Bob likes to collect from both sides. 3rd, Alvarado, why?!(I know see 2nd but it's such an awful fight!)4th, Pac and Roach are talking about going down in weight but Bob is talking about him going up. 5th we all know Bob is looking at Crawford and Garcia for Pac as soon as is feasible. I could go on and on but I'll digress. It must be yesterday because Bob is lying.

Bob, Bob and more fucking Bob. Ever since Floyd used Bob as his final infeasible excuse every man and his fucking dog hates Bob. Bob is Bob first and foremost - a lawyer, a business man and a fucking boxing promoter. When you take that into account poor old Bob is nowhere near as bad a Bob as every one claims poor Bob to be. People doing Bob's job have always been cunts - no surprise there. Even the saintly Cus D'amato understood and stressed the importance of "clever matchmaking". Don King is a fucking murderer and Shaffer is probably a cunt too. He looks like a charming, perverted SS Officer and guess what... he hates Bob too!

It's funny you mentioned Cus and Bob Arum in the same paragraph, considering Cus never thought too much of Bob.

Bob used to look like a saint compared to King.. Kings pretty much fallen out and keeping a low profile these days. Bob's trying to fight against the dying light, after his former charge started a company that is burying him on youth alone. Golden boy couldn't beat arum playing arums game so they changed the promotional game in boxing. Arum used to do things big for a major fight but never thought of stacking undercards the way GBP does, because his mentality is why give it away if you can get people to pay for it separately? GBP is kind of taking a page out of the ufc. The more good fights you can stack on a card, the more marketing and advertising you do in the mean time and even when you put on a card that's not as good as the others, people will still tune in to watch. All this while bob is waiting for his eggs to hatch (priming fighters and marketing to a pinnacle in one night)

Bobs an old cat burglar trying to plan the perfect crime for a mega payday do he never has to work again (which is how you were judged back them--putting on the perfect event)... and GBP are a smash a grab crew knocking over jewelry stores and pawn shops (sometimes is good, sometimes its not as good, but the fighters stay active and bankroll over the long haul instead of idling, losing focus, getting in to crap they shouldn't be into and getting ring rust while waiting for fights)

With this whole Schaeffer-De La Hoya feud coupled with Haymon's recent power play in boxing, it struck me, why do boxers needs to sign with promoters at all? If an adviser gets the boxer fights with the networks, and the money is coming mostly from the networks, what value does the promoter add?

I have no skin in the game. Arum, Haymon and Schaeffer seem like snakes.

That's exactly right. They are snakes, all of them. And they are useless if you're established. He could fight under MP Promotions and fight anyone without hangups of fake "wars" that are simply rich men with too much control trying for more control. Under MP Productions he wouldn't lose over 27% off the top and if he fights a GBP fighter or a TR fighter they will control the promotions. They like that because it pushes their brand, Manny wins financially, and fans win because this war nonsense doesn't stand in the way of fights.

Yeah but MP Promotions is just a company title, not a true promotional company. It takes a lot of capital, know-how and man-power to pull off a show on the scale of a Mayweather or Pacquaio PPV extravaganza. If it was easy, every fighter with a name would be doing it.

If a boxer sees an advisor he'll advise him to set up a company to channel revenue earned from the networks and whatnot and to provide a level of limited liability and tax benefits. He will advise him to seek an accountant who will not only form the entity but be responsible for the relevant taxation and compliance issues. When contracts are drawn he'll advise him to be represented by a lawyer who will pursue his best interests. When he's in training and the media circus comes to town he'll advise him to hire a capable PR team so that he may be able to properly focus on his actual job. Blah blah blah. Adviser, promoter same fucking thing really as I can't see either not wanting to recommend their own associates. I don't really know shit about the boxing industry from a business point of view but I assume that most promotional companies came about as a one shop option marketed towards boxers naturally chasing the big fights. Fuck them off and you will just come back full circle, although they most probably would be packaged as "Combat Athlete Business Agents" or some pretentious shit.

If Pac signs with Bob long term he is effectively avoiding Floyd. He should do what Cotto did and be a free agent and fight who ever offers the best deals which will be GBP.

1st)MP Productions does cards, small cards so it's not paper it's just small time.

2)I'm not saying he should do the actual promotion. When he signs to fight a GBP fighter they can take the lead, when he signs to fight a TR fighter they can do the promotion. Both sides want the event to be a success so they will gladly promote it. You just don't pay them. Like Floyd does with GBP. GBP gets to put on huge cards that promote their company and Floyd fights under his small scale promotion name so he doesn't have to pay. Manny could get that same free promotion because it's worth it for the big promoters for relevance.

There's no way Manny is leaving Bob. Bob's proven himself a fucking genius with the way he's brought along Manny. The bloke can still barely understand English, is ugly, small, from a relatively unknown country and has an almost unpronounceable surname yet he's reached levels of worldwide acclaim held by only a few Asian males in history let alone true sportstars. If Manny were to leave Bob for a few extra millions at Mayweather's whim he'd be a bigger douche bag than even El Cooning Boring Boxer himself.
