Last minute or short notice opponents.
Last night Ishe Smith had a short notice opponent named Ryan Davis. Smith got rid of Davis with a second round KO.
I don't know about you guys, but I secretly pull for these "opponents". It's illogical and boneheaded but I can't help it. I don't even want them to win, necessarily, I just want them to do well enough to make the promoter sweat. If they win, that's cool too.
Any of you feel that way? and if you can, give me some names of "opponents" who have turned the tables and done well or won.

Isidro Garcia vs. Jose Lopez - Boxrec Boxing Encyclopaedia
"Alejandro Montiel was originally scheduled to fight Lopez for the vacant crown, but withdrew a few hours before the fight. Garcia happened to be in attendance as a spectator and was asked to step in while sitting at ringside eating a doughnut. Garcia fought and won the title using borrowed trunks, protective cup and mouthpiece."
Tommy Morrison vs. Tim Tomashek - Boxrec Boxing Encyclopaedia
"Tomashek literally came out of the crowd to replace Mike Williams, who refused to leave his dressing room."
