Prime cleverly would he have caused any problems?

Cleverly would have been lucky to see the 2nd round.
Re: Would Stevenson have knocked out cleverly ??
Cleverly looks good at his new weight, he may have been dead at the weight at LHW but we
will have to see what happens I'm not sold on Stevenson.
Re: Would Stevenson have knocked out cleverly ??
Cleverly is a domestic level fringe contender type and he'd get fucked early..

I love it when you talk dirty.;D
Re: Would Stevenson have knocked out cleverly ??
Probably Stevenson would have won, no shame losing to Kolovkin who is the best light heavy at the moment.

As of now Hopkins or Stevenson.
Surely not Kovalev..
Why?...because he squares himself up too much....even against weak comp....image how bad it's going to get when he fights somebody with them skills.
You guys are ranking Kovalev above Stevenson but that is backwards.
Stevenson is a better fighter right now.
I'm telling you.
His ability to see openings and anticipate where they will be is uncanny.
Kovalev better enjoy this part of his career while he can and be glad he hasn't fought Stevenson yet.
He was heavilly advised to fight Cleverly over Hopkins......for a reason.

Haha imagine a Golovkin-Kovalev clone
Re: Would Stevenson have knocked out cleverly ??
Cleverly could have kept on fighting modest competition he knew he could beat and could still have his title.
Instead he showed he had some balls and took on the danger man in the division.
Stevenson probably would have knocked him out too. I still have respect for Cleverly though and wouldn't mind seeing him again. Tough, gutsy kid.

There is no question both of these guys have 1 punch ko power. I think the difference is Stevenson has fallen in love with his stuff and honestly throws 1,2 at a time and then spends his time looking...waiting. Anticipate as you say. He has holes trying to be a sharpshooter. He sweeps alot and over extends. Stevenson has happy feet, almost high anxiety and poses way too much. Kovalev on the other hand is a combo puncher more fluid than you may be given him credit for and has much better variation and consistency on delivery. He doesn't square up like some plodding bomber and his footwork and hands are on the same page. No loading up and off a committed jab to head and body. Wherever he hurts you, the instinct is to then go to the other area. I see a much more effective boxer in him than in Stevenson. Kovalev called out Hopkins but hbo wasn't touching that fight with a 10 foot pole. He went the high profile-payday route in Clevs backyard when few gave him a chance or even bothered to spell his name and used it to put himself on the map, and unlike Stevenson didn't have to jump networks to avoid a fight he already committed to. Stevenson had the fight on his plate..he opted out. Simple as. Hopefully it'll take place still.

Kovalev has far more holes in his game than Stevenson.
It's the way he squares up..
Kovalev had the Hopkins fight on his plate...but he opted out.
Re: Would Stevenson have knocked out cleverly ??
I think Kovalev has a good jab. Just look at his fight with Cleverly.
He's also very good at cutting off the ring, and is a great finisher.
