Good job your not a manager because you would ruin a fighter. They need experience in the pros meaning getting pushed by tough fighters. You could get a newly qualified carpenter to build you a house but he could get stuck under the pressure. You wouldnt do that though, youd want to see they have experience since being qualified. That they can cope with such a job.
This level opponent would be fine for Joshua if he was fighting every few weeks but hes not, its every few months. There is no graduation from Paul Butler or Dorian Darch, in fact those two probably beat Matt Leg!
Its getting to the same situation as David Price where the level of opponent was stagnating and regressing.

These kimds of fights are fine for someone coming out of the amteurs, especialy someone who had to specialise in the amateur style to do well in the olympics (or at least not be totally a joke when given the Savon fight).

For 6 months they should be fed journeymen to sharpen their teeth. My only problem is the length of time between bouts as if the bouts mean something at this stage. He should be fighting every 3 weeks if they are going to feed him a dozen dummies. Who he is fighting next is worse than who hes already beaten. There is no progression and Hearn os slowly ruining him. Hes even had invitations to go and spar with the Furys and Chambers. That would do him the world of good.
Maybe Hearn doesnt want him bumping in to Dylion Whyte (one of Furys sparring partners) again. He beat Joshua up in the amateurs in Whytes very first boxing match!!!

This is how it is supposed to work.
An amateur that is making the transition to a profession from a sport has to learn that to win its not now based on the number of scoring punches landed. Its a completely different style.
They will or should be having tough competitive sparring out of view of the public and then to avoid any slip ups try out their new skills against a few bums which also gives them confidence in their new skills. Gradually as their team see them improving in training and sparring, the level of opponent is raised. Maybe Joshua isnt looking so good in some sparring matches and hes well nehind schedule developement wise? I cant think of any other reason to why so shit an opponent so far away from his last bout. Hes not in any contractual disputes and has a promoter with cash to throw at journeymen so should be no problem keeping him active.
I agree that Joshuas next opponent does nothing for him being hes worse than his last handful and that its THREE MONTHS since he last fought. Matt wouldnt have been a bad opponent if he was facing him to fill a show just 2 or 3 weeks after his last fight but not 3 months!
