Firstly, I usually hate these threads, but with tonight's Froch/Groves 2 it seemed fitting.
I watch CEJr giving Froch a hard time in sparring and it leads me to ask, what would his dad have done to him in his prime? He was a much, much better boxer.
Both around their peaks imo. Eubank was dominating MW and moving up to SMW in 1991-1992, while Froch was destroying Bute in 2012.
I'd pick Eubank to win a fairly one sided UD.
117-111 Maybe.
Eubanks did not like a hard fast pace and he hated body punching which froch would do. Eubanks had a monster right hand and great straight punches. So do not know who would win because both have great chins and it would be a tough battle.
Easy win for Eubank. He'd have completely messed with Froch's head as well.
Eubank liked fighters to come at him and Froch would duly oblige. Eubank just counters him all night long and takes a decision.
Eubank could be outhustled and slept on a few 'lesser' guys but he was just too thick for a wide & random Froch. Chin, accuracy and boiling a guy down, very cagey and had the pop to win.
I don't see to many people beating Chris in his prime or over a best of three. Maybe two guys. Roy and Joe.

ATG ? and Eubank do not go hand in hand my friend , he didn't even hold a real title the WBO was a joke belt at the time. ATG'S don't lose to club fighters during their title reign. He was a British media product , exciting and steel chinned but nothing else.Quote:

I disagree that he was overrated, but I agree he had some bad fights, every fighter does, it just stands out more when it happens to the best.Quote:

Eubanks is not an ATG, he showed greatness when he beat Benn and Watson but the rest was what Al said. Roy Jones would show him what greatness is, I suspect Toney would have too. Herol Graham would have embarrassed him. McCallum would rip him apart.Quote:

Given the age of the division etc and his skill set whether he achieved the % of greatness to all time status per individual is subjective. I think he matches up with anyone in the top 5 before or since. That to me equates to all time great super middle. I already agreed that Jones beats him but imo its a tough fight and the same for Joe had he fought him earlier. Please don't dismiss Chris and then bring up Toney at 168 at the same time. He had one meaningful fight at that weight and was embarrassed by Roy and before that went life and death with Prince Charles before stopping him in the 12th. He did beat Barkley but that version of Barkley was no better then the club fighter on Eubank's lodge pole.
If you were to ask for an atg super middle weight list on any forum I guarantee you Chris makes the top 10 and in or near the upper half.
Btw I found him extremely annoying then and do today. I also think his kid is in for a rude awakening.
I think Junior is going to be better that his dad.
OK Toney was inconsistent at times but I thought he was excellent against Williams. That fight was top draw and the ending quality.
