Fighters whose names were bigger than their accomplishments.
Let me start it off:
Earl the Pearl Hargrove. lolololol... big name Jr. Middle that had more name than wins. lolololol....
Bert Cooper. That one fight with Holyfield made Cooper the man of men. lolololol.... Cooper was legit tough as nails, but he certainly would have never been a world beater now that we look back at it.
Livingston Bramble. He had ONE GOOD FIGHT... and that was it. lolololol....
Last, and I may get in trouble for this, Iran Barkley. Aside from having Hearns's number, he really wasn't anything special in the ring. Oh, yea... his beating of Keith Van-Horn was good, but Van-Horn wasn't all that to begin with either.

Jake Lamotta. And that's not a knock on Jake, who I consider a solid fighter, but his name is incredibly huge from the movie and fighting SRR, and what did he really do? He won the World Title with a spectacular come from behind KO in a fight he was losing handily (for the vacant world title, so he never even beat a champion to get it), then he lost the title in the very next fight by savage SRR beating.
Good but over rated fighter. Book and movie thrust his name value higher than his fighting ability did.

That's really painting with a broad brush in all fairness on Bramble and even Cooper to a lesser degree. Cooper shot himself in his career foot, maybe both of them, with self sabotage and chemical abuse but he had some ability early on. If you know him for just the Holyfield fight where he was a 3rd choice and late sub then you've missed the Mercer and Moorer fights which were two of the best heavyweight battles of the decade. He also beat and earned a spot by stopping Orlin Norrin who was world ranked in top 5 across the board.
Bramble brutalized Mancini and sliced him up again, was written off and came back to smash top ranked Brazier in a shocker, check it out. He was a very tight switch hitter and damn sure had better than just ONE good fight. Ask top prospect Oba Carr who Bramble was and how it felt to see him absolutely robbed after Bramble was written off again...voted as a challenger by fans via 900 number and then took Carr to Hell in a brutal war. Sometimes knowing a fighter for just one fight means you just haven't taken the time to watch more maybe. Darrin Van Horn, not Keith. Dude legitimately jumped two divisions to knock out the spr middle champion..not all of that catchweight bs and gimmicks. Not half bad, and he could fight a bit.

Brambles name preceded him even before thrashing Mancini with press making him into some voodoo wicked weirdo. The villain. Scratching a bald spot in my head but thinking Bramble ran longer and competed at a higher level than Cooper for sure. Often Coopers highlights can run right into his No Mas jobs with Carl Williams and Foreman. Bramble known for a win really...Cooper a hard loss...Both guys went waaaay too long and ended as record padders. Just for me Bramble was a far better boxer..besides I named my old dog after him :-X;D
