Alex "Destroyer" Stewart vs. Deontay "The Bronze Bomber" Wilder
Both amassed huge glossy KO records early in their career.
Stewart was chinny n proved to be a fringe contender.
Another thread got me thinking, who would win at the early part of their careers?
I think Wilder's wingspan means he'd land first and it would be over quickly. Stewart did have heart tho and got up off the canvas plenty of times so he might have gotten up and whipped Wilder.
Re: Alex "Destroyer" Stewart vs. Deontay "The Bronze Bomber" Wilder
Alex Stewart fought several top prime Heavies while Wilder's fought literally no one with a pulse yet!
I'd go with the proven commodity, Alex Stewart by KO inside 5 rds.
He'd probably knock Wilder down with a jab...

Yes he did. And he lost to all of them too. What's his best win? Jesse Ferguson? Wilder wrecks him. Might have to get up to do it. But he would

I like Stewart on hand speed and a sharp jab, not to mention an exact opposite ring self awareness. I put more stock in taking a couple of HOF to the brink, getting up and holding own in the same amount of fights than a guy who has not had to come back from a thing and has faced no one. His loss to Foreman was more impressive than any win Wilder has managed to date.

Foreman moved liked a glacier. Once Stewart settled down he was able to use his speed to his advantage and gargoyled George face. Fighters with more or similar speed to his own blow him out. Tyson. Moorer. I think Wilder is as fast as Stewart was

At least Alex Stewart had the stones to get in the ring with several top prime elite fighters of his era... and he left his mark on them.
Big George's face looked like a mask after the Alex Stewart fight.

Undefeated Alex Stewart vs a prime undefeated Evander Holyfield.
Brutal stuff, and Holyfield took a very heavy barrage of shots from Stewart, but Stewart couldn't put him away, and the fight was stopped on cuts.
In contrast, Wilder's a 28 year old with almost 6 years as a pro, and he still hasn't fought a single live one yet!
Deontay Wilder's biggest claim to fame is the charlie zelenoff farce, for $#!t's sake !

Stewart landed combos on Holyfield and Moorer, not blown out without doing damage first to each. Wilder is fast vs empty gloves and folding lawn chairs who didn't come to win...what speed let alone single solid punch, has Wilder walked through in 31 fights??? Tyson would have Seldon'd his ass too. Left him looking silly and all bent up
Re: Alex "Destroyer" Stewart vs. Deontay "The Bronze Bomber" Wilder
Wilder is unproven in compararison to Alex but I could see a first round knock out of Stewart.
Re: Alex "Destroyer" Stewart vs. Deontay "The Bronze Bomber" Wilder
I'd take Stewart anytime... He proved way more, and could've gotten the nod in a few high profile fights he had but didn't
