Hector Lizarraga
Going into this first fight, Lizarraga was 15-7-3 and on a ten fight winning streak. early on he'd fought guys like future world champ Paul Banke and challenger Lupe Gutierrez on short notice. Then he got better management and got on a roll. Here he is fighting a guy that is 23-1.

Re: Hector Lizarraga
A few years later, on a 28-1 roll, Lizarraga wins a championship. In the 6th round- though it may be the 5th- Lizarraga pulls off a beautiful counter. As Ncita tries a left hook to the body, he counters it with a right uppercut to the chin. Beautiful counter.

Re: Hector Lizarraga
Wow... that was a comprehensive beating, especially to the body. Strange ending though. Never seen a thrown towel draped over one of the fighters before. Could've ended in a comical knockout with Carter temporarily blinded by the towel. And the ref just threw it back!

Re: Hector Lizarraga
That was odd, though I think that happened just recently? With the ref throwing the towel back?

Re: Hector Lizarraga
Yeah... supposedly the ref has the option to not accept the corner's action and signal for the fight to continue. The weird thing in this fight was that he only allowed the fight to continue momentarily..... THEN stopped the fight, not even giving the traditional signal that the fight is over... just taking Carter back to his corner. Next thing you know, Lizarraga's family is climbing into the ring.
