Cotto likely to fight Lee next
Interesting fight for me. Cotto will be fav but if at 160 I give Lee a good chance. Lee hasnt looked the best lately but at 6'2 he has a huge height and reach advantage. Hes also a decent puncher as his latest KO shows, has a strong chin, both losses he was stopped on his feet and not dropped in, and was ahead on all cards at time of stoppage in both his losses. How do people see this going?
Re: Cotto likely to fight Lee next
terrible fight for cotto. lee isnt very good. its a lose-lose fight for him here. cotto will be expected to win and win big. at this point in cottos career, he shouldnt be wasting fights like this. he should just fight ggg.
Re: Cotto likely to fight Lee next
The fight will do BANK in New York...a Boricua vs and Irishman? There won't be an empty seat in the house!
I think this will be a rather close fight. Andy Lee has never fought this caliber of opponent and he's lost before but if he was to keep Cotto on the end of his jab it would make it difficult for Miguel to do what he does. I think the pressure breaks Lee around round 6.
Re: Cotto likely to fight Lee next
Of course this ain't the best fight Cotto could get but like Hulk said, this is against a real middleweight
Re: Cotto likely to fight Lee next
Cotto takes on Lee, not sold on Andy one bit he will get a decent pay day, Cotto should get
the win in MSG New York, not the worst match up for Cotto out there is it.!;)

He is pretty good and quite tall.
He is also a real middleweight at least. We'd be pissed and think it a waste n joke if GGG fought Lee tho.
I think I feel the same way you do about Lee, he's OK but I just don't look forward to watching him fight.
Im the opposite (poss cz Im Irish) but lots of Lees fights are belters (particularly when he loses) Vera and Chavez were decent fights and that last fight with that KO from behind was a cracker. To be honest you would have to say Cotto is the worst MW champion at the moment. GGG is a beast, Quillin looks next, Solimon beat Sturm twice in Germany. If I was in the current middleweight division Cotto would be the guy Id be looking for. Prob best money and best chance of winning.
Re: Cotto likely to fight Lee next
Was hoping they'd aim higher for Cotto but its a passable initial defense as far as network and money. Lee was smacked about badly and hurt last out until he pulled a brick out of his pocket for sudden ko win. Do us a solid and do not put this on a ppv.
Re: Cotto likely to fight Lee next
Cotto is being lined up to fight Alvarez next Cinco so this is a keep busy fight. They could have picked an easier opponent. Lee could give him problems but probably Cotto stops him in the second half of the fight.
Re: Cotto likely to fight Lee next
And here lies the problem with lineage. The lineal MW champion doesn't want to face the no. 1 contender and probably will never. Since it's speculated that Cotto's next fight will be against Alvaraz for the Lineal MW title. Golovkin has been the no. 1 MW contender for the past 3 years, Martinez ducked him and now Cotto is too.
Everyone gives someone like Wlad shit, but that guy fights all comers as the HW champ. Everyone gave shit to Pacquiao for fighting Algieri, but Algieri has at least beaten a very good fighter in Provodnikov, who has Lee beaten? Horrible fight. I call it what it is.
Re: Cotto likely to fight Lee next
Cotto took on the best and most recognized middleweight and won. He is entitled to make a voluntary defence and bank some money.
GGG has to clear up the trinkets and force a fight with Cotto.

He can't clear up the trinkets when the other guys don't want to fight him. Quillen holds the WBO title and wants none of it, neither does the IBF champ Solimon, and neither does Cotto the WBC and lineal champ.
