He is good but I do not think he will make the top grade. A poor mans Tony Tubbs.

Because Ruiz is a techniqueless, out of shape slugger who won't last a minute at a high class.
Promoters generally promote fighter who they believe can make it big, it costs money to promote and no one will waste it on people who clearly wont make it.
Ruiz falls into the category of someone who wont make it.
He's always looked like a smaller Arreola at best, to me. I don't think there would be a lot of confidence in him either.
His hand speed is sneaky... his power is also sneakier... his chin is decent... he surprises...
Id like to see him fight Perez. He is ok but I dont think hes a future champ
He's def not without skill. Nice hands. Butt the elephant in the room is the weight of course. Career high vs Hamer but down in last. Got hit a bit vs Tor and even shook once but came through.
Looks like he is fighting the ghost of Liakovich next month. Not sure what that does for him at all
Liakovich is the punching bag of the division now. He's not quite Tony Thompson, who can still shock you with a win on any given night, but he is a step above Jason Gavern now....Quote:
