We are making too much of Terrence Crawford!
Sure, he had a very good night against Gamboa. But Gamboa was coming off of a huge layoff... and lost some speed, mobility and common sense. Gamboa was always susceptible to shots. Him hitting Gamboa didn't really surprise me or anyone here- especially when we look at the height advantage for Crawford.
Let's see how Crawford does against Salido, Gary Russell, Lomanchenko... then we can have more discussions on his dominance at that weight.
But let's slow our role here...

What you are saying is correct, in regards to Gamboa. Sometimes you can watch a guy fight, like Ricardo Lopez prior to his fight vs Alvarez, and know he is great. The skill is unmistakable. Crawford is like that also. Great technique and poise.

And how exactly is Crawford supposed to fight those guys when he's going to 140?
Re: We are making too much of Terrence Crawford!
do you sit around and think of all the most controversial topics you can think of then post them on this board?
anyways, crawford impressed me in the gamboa fight. i think that he is overrated by some because i do not think that he is boxings next superstar by any means, but i would be surprised in he didnt become a p4p guy.
Re: We are making too much of Terrence Crawford!
Crawford does nothing for me, when he faced Burns I was expecting something special,! I
was frankly greatly disappointed , he was made out to be the next big thing, to me he is a
well rounded fighter does nothing brilliantly solid yes, but you can say that about many fighters.
In his fight with Gamboa he got Buzzed, pretty badly by lets face it , by a much smaller guy
if he's going to light welter, I feel he will lose more than likely he gets ko.
How high would I rate Crawford if I had a top 30 in the light weights he would no be in it.

There is nothing wrong with shaking up thought...

Then he is a dodger looking to cherry-pick. He should fight at his weight... there are a lot of fights, even better fights, if he has at least 3 more fights where he is.
Re: We are making too much of Terrence Crawford!
Crawford wouldn't get any credit for fighting those guys.
All of them are featherweights, while Crawford is a lightweight.
No, he should be looking to fight Mikey Garcia or Vazquez.

Everyone between Jr. Feather to Lightweight are virtually the same thing.... same size, same persona. Gamboa was a fat feather. Tis why he lost. There is no better competition for him aside from guys coming up from that weight for Crawford.
His move to Jr. Welter would be disastrous.

He wouldn't be able to fight Danny Garcia or Peterson at 140 for a title, because he's with Top Rank, and Garcia and Peterson are with Golden Boy.
I doubt he'll fight Mikey Garcia either, because Mikey is still in a dispute with Top Rank, and doesn't seem interested in boxing anymore.
Re: We are making too much of Terrence Crawford!
Salido and Gary Russell...really man??? Crawford is a breath of fresh air. Humble, no bs, fills his hometown stage to capacity and a very capable switch hitter who just emerged victorious in his breakout fight in dramatic fashion. There is very little to zilch for him at 135 as he is a 'big' 135, has already fought at 140 and is seeing fellow champs move up as well. He and M Garcia are going in the same direction, only with a 2,3 divison gap. Garcia would be smart to not let himself be talked into that. The man is literally barely 1 1/2 year removed from his first 10 rounder and had to take the Prescott fight on 3 days notice to get it, as a sub! I don't think too much is being made, lets let the man enjoy the spotlight and show that obvious skill.
Re: We are making too much of Terrence Crawford!
Crawford is a good guy, facing tough good competition and is progressing his career.
Re: We are making too much of Terrence Crawford!
I think Crawford could clean out lightweight.

When you say WE , I presume you actually mean YOU , as you started the thread and none of the rest of us even give it a second thought ?
