I'm happy for Oscar De LaHoya!
You wanna know why? After catching up on what was taking place behind the scenes with his own personal problems, dealing with Richard Shaefer and Al Haymon trying to steal his company from him, with the former embezzling and the latter creaming off his talent for himself even though Haymon is not a legitimate promoter, he really still has how own company and still has a fairly good name.
What Shaefer and Haymon with a few other black fighters, particularly Mayweather, were trying to do to Oscar and what they did was just plain wrong.
No wonder why now when Shaefer left Floyd decided to get a promotional license. They were just working off of Golden Boy's name and fame.
Re: I'm happy for Oscar De LaHoya!
Promoters sometimes make out they are the fighters best friend, but in truth it a business partnership
no more, were large amounts of money are involved things can get nasty.
Oscar is now in this World, and I bet there is more dirty fighting in promoting, than he saw in the
boxing ring, Oscar has learnt there are no friends in this business.!!!
Re: I'm happy for Oscar De LaHoya!
Oscar has it all but does not know it. He is an idiot at times.
Re: I'm happy for Oscar De LaHoya!
Oscar needs to sort himself out. Golden Boy had a lot of potential, but Oscar has tarnished it somewhat. If you are the head of a corporation it can cause considerable damage when you hang out with prostitutes, wear their clothes, and sit on dildo's all the while leaving photographic evidence. Oscar is what I would term boxing royalty. What that means is that he is a former boxer now known for sexual deviation. One can be the former or the later and Oscar is both. Boxing royalty. Be a good family man Oscar, drop the royalty nonsense. It will damage your children.

Richard made everything happen at golden boy and thats the thanks he gets?!
Shaeffer with Floyd and Haymon was riding off of Golden Boy's name brand. They didn't have a brand of their own. And, instead of respecting that, they decided to build their own name and brand from within Golden' Boy's brand- it was wrong and evil.
Particularly look at the pay packages Shaeffer gave to certain fighters. Had to be kickbacks on his end.
Re: I'm happy for Oscar De LaHoya!
People were doing business with Shaeffer because of Oscar... Shaeffer was the brains, but no one would do business with him, dirty ass Haymon or Floyd if Oscar didn't talk to people on his own brand and image.
People did business because of Oscar... first and foremost.

If you've got problems with alcohol and substances the last thing you should be doing is a stressful job right in the middle of the environment where you developed those addictions in the first place. He should have taken Schaefer's offer and let Schaefer buy him out while still keeping a minority interest, get the hell out with his family and live a quiet life somewhere away from temptations. Or at least get somebody competent in to run it and just turn up for the fights like before. As it is it's almost certainly just a matter of time before we get new batches of pictures and he's back in rehab, a divorce and all the rest of it.

"Like before" wasn't working for Oscar, he wound up in rehab while his "friends" were trying to expropriate his company, the thing he had built with his accomplishments and name.
Do you seriously believe there was no colussion between Floyd, Schaefer, and Haymon concerning GB.
I like Oscar but I do not believe everything he says. I want to see Oscar suceed, and I think this whole thing has opened his eyes, and will be a good thing in the long run.
Personally, I wouldn't trust Schaefer with a five spot after what I've read, he's a backstabber when it suits him, in my opinion.
Re: I'm happy for Oscar De LaHoya!
YK, I am happy that you are happy for Oscar.
Re: I'm happy for Oscar De LaHoya!
What is the difference between Bob arum and Oscar aside from looks, personality and being an ex boxer when it comes to promoting. They are the same guy. They both get richer off the ring work of fighters. I'm not saying promoting is a bad thing. I just could care less if they are failures in life's endeavors because they choose greed over something else. Oscar was a boxing poster child because of his looks and winning record. but now he promotes boxing for selfish reasons not for the good of the sport.
