Why is Floyd never warned for his Chicken-Wing Elbow thrusts?
He should lose major points every time he does that. Blatant foul, and rather dangerous too.
Re: Why is Floyd never warned for his Chicken-Wing Elbow thrusts?
The only two things I can think of is Floyd's awAreness is developed to the where he knows he can throw it ie. We see it on the tube but the ref doesn't or refs give Floyd too much leeway
Re: Why is Floyd never warned for his Chicken-Wing Elbow thrusts?
He's never warned because Vegas stands to much to much to lose in revenue if his aura of invincibility gets debunked. If he gets knocked out in spectacular fashion and its shattered, they milk the rematch and then start building the next one. If it just gets dented by him getting outworked, people start losing interest and stop buying tickets which means less people show up spend money staying in the hotels, gambling in the casinos and other attractions up and down the strip.
Taking the elbows and forearms away from him, means a guy can just lean on him and grind/ maul away while racking up points. The refs see it, just as many an opponent has pointed it out before during and maybe even after a fight over the years so its not as if noone sees it or knows its there. Being the star attraction affords him leniency because it keeps the money machine rolling. Just as it did for boxing before he fought exclusively in Vegas and he was building his brand. Just like Tyson used to get away rocking someone with a forearm here or there or oscar got away with holding oba carr behind the head and punching...

Floyd is a lot smarter than the refs and the judges, he has some trouble reading but he's a genius in the ring.
Can you deny that?
Does Floyd do anything in the ring that you do like?
My answer was only pertinent to the question. I don't like Floyd outside the ring but in the ring he I'd like Van Gogh. Yes, he is a women beating douchebag but he will be known as one of the greatest ever. I don't know why you came at me with that retort as I have spoken openly about how I masturbate watching Floyd's jab, it is one of the best jabs I have ever seen. I do say Floyd being the icon he is gets a lot of mercy from refs and scorecards but I think everyone he faces knows anything close is going to Floyd
Re: Why is Floyd never warned for his Chicken-Wing Elbow thrusts?
What should he do? Allow fighter to fight boring holding mauling fights?
All he's doing is trying to keep the action moving with punches.
We cant complain about Ward, Hopkins, John Ruiz etc if we are then going to complain about a fighter who's got an answer?

I have to apologize sir, I'm having a rubber band fight with two of my grandsons and wasn't paying enough attention, my comments were directed at broctoblockbust not you.
No problems at all, don't take out your grandsons eye.
Re: Why is Floyd never warned for his Chicken-Wing Elbow thrusts?
It's just an aggressive defensive maneuver. It is technically a foul to use your elbow/forearm, but hey whatcha gonna do? Floyd is good at using it and he doesn't get called out for it so you've just got to let it go if you're the other fighter. Just know it's coming and try not to focus on it.

Leaning on and holding are also fouls and unless they are doing this, Floyd cant put his elbow under their chin so it is always the opponent who is initiating the foul.

Whatever you say chief
Re: Why is Floyd never warned for his Chicken-Wing Elbow thrusts?
He probably gets away with it because it's more subtle than most fouls because he uses it to create space and not as a concussive weapon.
I've seen refs warn him though and he should be warned in the future for doing it.
Re: Why is Floyd never warned for his Chicken-Wing Elbow thrusts?
He has the comission and the ref on his side which he indirectly pays to not penalise him.
