I almost feel sad that it has to happen. Algieri seems like a nice enough guy. But, Pac is gonna slaughter him worse than he did Rios...
I just hope it doesn't send Algieri into a depression or he stops fighting at, at least, a medium ranged ability for him to make some more money off of his youth.

Algeri is very lucky to have this fight. He's getting a serious payday against a superstar who might be fading, why would you feel bad for him. Even if he loses terribly he's half expected to and will have made more money than so many better fighters ever did. If he actually gives Pacquiao a tricky fight, doesn't get badly hurt, he comes out a winner no matter what. Not a bad spot for the up and coming fighter to be in.

I actually thought Algeri was younger than that as well. Either way, he hasn't been around making waves for long and it's a huge step up for him.

At his level and stage of career, it is no use fighting for under $100k. No fucking use if you are an ex-champion.
Lots of champions never make anywhere near a million dollars for a fight, most in fact. If Pacquiao blasts him out easily, it may suggest there is a good chance that would have happened against someone else he'd have fought for a lot less. If he loses but hangs in and makes it interesting, there is no way that will negatively effect his earning potential. Any fighter in his position is lucky to get a fight like this, why is that difficult for you to understand.
I really do wonder if Manny is taking this serious, and its not like he was mashing the gas against a "real" punching threat in Rios but rather admitted to carrying him a bit. If he took it easy on a loud soggy bag of guts like Rios what's going to inspire him to tear into a wide smiling God fearing blue eyed guy with all the intimidation of 'Potsie Webber'.
Manny got back to business. I think the last fight with JMM affected him. Deeply. It wasn't just the fight strategy, but he had a lifestyle change beforehand and it changed his mindset.Quote:
