A fighter's personality effects our admiration for him
Take a fighter who was just mediocre, lets say Arturo Gatti. But I dont know too many people who hated him. Now take a fighter who is supposedly "great" Floyd Hemmhoroid, and so many people hate him it is unbelievable. Period.
And this will effect the fighter's legacy as well. Hated fighters dont go down in history too smoothly. People hated Larry Holmes, and now he is NEVER MENTIONED/RESPECTED TOO WELL. People loved Gatti and theyre talking about HOF!!! wtf???? Gatii doesnt belong there, and I liked hiim alot.

Brock you are right nobody likes a shit bag, nothing wrong with being a nice guy but the idiots
in boxing, think acting and talking crap is part and parcel, old Henry Cooper never acted like
a gutter rat. Floyd makes huge amounts of money, I think the image works for him and against
him, all the flashing cash thing is a turn off.
I like Ricky Burns I no he's no great fighter, but he's respectful and comes across as a decent person
and what's wrong with that.!!!

yes Rich, Burns and cooper are great examples of gentlemen. Look at the gentleman that Rocky Marciano was. Look at the interviews with Archie Moore and Joe Louis. These were gentlemen. Gave boxing a nice feeling, a feeling of comraderie and sportsmanship. Kids could look up to those guys. THEN LOOK AT THE TRASH TALKING GHETTO-SCUM LIKE MIKE TYSON AND ETC.... Total loss of gentlemanliness and grace and manners. What a shame.

People hate greatness. People hated Ali too- mostly white America. People hated Louis too- primarily white America and Europe, obviously. People loved Oscar, but didn't really take to Trinidad or Mosely.
I think it depends on the package...

I think I would like Tyson personally because he is a known entity- you know what you're getting. That would make me have an appreciation for his personality, barring his past. A lot of folks feel that way too.
