Haymon, does he have the right idea?
Haymon is great at getting his fighters seen on TV, but does he really have the right idea?
A couple of those fights last night were as close to watching a fixed fight as you can get without it being fixed. It was like watching lambs going to slaughter.
If that's what Haymon thinks boxing fans want to watch he is wrong. I'm sure everyone made some decent money and liked the TV exposure, but that doesn't mean watching a totally outclassed fighter get his ass handed to him is enjoyable to watch or doing any of the fighters a bit of good. Haymon has to do better or his fighters are going to be labeled protected. IMO

I think he screwed Quillin over for personal reasons and not in kid chocolates interest.

Haymon is apparently cornering the TV market. Even if most of the stable fighters are shit, he clearly has the optics part of the fight game down to a tee. That alone can command 50% more than what fighters can make, even in their early stages, fighting the same tin-cans.

Agreed. But if Quillin was dumb enough to fall for it, then who are we to judge? Some folks are just dumb. Quillin, a good fighter, but just dumb as a box of rocks.

Most fighters are dumb until it is too late in their career.
Froch would tell Hearn to go to hell than give up a belt he has worked so hard to win and defend.
Haymon should be looking after him.

No doubt. Like winning a belt meant nothing. If he didn't win that belt then hardly anyone would be talking about him or to him about fights. What makes him think that Jacobs wants to fight him without a belt?
smt.. Quillin made the worse decision of his career. Worst one.
Re: Haymon, does he have the right idea?
He is out for his own interests like any promoter, I'm sure he is making smart moves. Quillin would have had little to no choice in that matter, it was Haymon throwing a wrench in the whole thing.
You'd have to look at the ratings for some of these cards to get your answer I guess, but I suspect they have done alright. Haymons fighters are getting paid well for one thing, and for borderline mismatches at that. It's a minority of viewers who actually realize the cards suck, I think.

... and the cards DO suck.
