The Muhammad Ali Appreciation Thread 2
Ali did not have to fight again. After servıng hıs tıme, he could have retired and saıd he was the greatest. Had he retıred ın 1969, say, he would have already been fıghtıng professıonally for 7 years. That ıs as long as Rocky Marciano's entire career, almost. Ali already HAD hıs career, 1960-1967, and that ıs PLENTY long for heavyweıghts. Ali dıdnt ever have to fıght agaın.
Let,s gıve that warrıor a real round of applause, he was the toughest SOB I can remember, apart from my Rocco of course LOL. Dundee: 'Muhammad ıs the toughest %+&^& I ever trained'.
Re: The Muhammad Ali Appreciation Thread 2
also, when he came back ın 1970, he fought hard and won all fıghts, then he took a batterıng beyond belıef from Smokın Joe, he could have retıred rıght then and saıd OK I gave ıt a try, Im a step slow, I dont got ıt anymore, I went out on my shıeld.
But look what he dıd---he beat Frazıer twıce after that, lost to Norton, beat Norton twıce after that--and the UNTHINKABLE----KNOCKED OUT GEORGE MONSTER FOREMAN.
Now THATS when he should've retired!!! October 1974.

1967
Had Cassius Clay retired.
He would go down as a talented Heavyweight Champion, but not regarded as the Greatest.
Too many 'what ifs'.
Remember, he fought a lot of 'old guys'.

Brock I know you have been a critique of Ali but are fair minded enough to acknowledge what a great fighter and champion he was.
Bill take a leaf out of Brock’s book and be open minded when it comes to all things Muhammad Ali.

aye mate, forsooth. Ali's neck grabbing and mugging and holding gave me fits even when I was 13 years old---- but the mofo was a sharpshooter who could slice you to ribbons with a vicious relentlessness--I sure as hell wouldnt wanna look across the ring and see THAT mofo's face looking at me----gonna be a helluva night of pain. Man was a FORCE OF WILL AND HEART.

Muhammad was the toughest guy with the fastest hands/feet and the prettiest face.
Will there be another Ali probably not.

Re: The Muhammad Ali Appreciation Thread 2
Muhammad has Irish blood which gave him his toughness.
Re: The Muhammad Ali Appreciation Thread 2
The 'first' halfway decent and capable fighter that Muhammad fought.
He lost, and got his 'coolie' dusted in the process.
{See; Joe Frazier}
Re: The Muhammad Ali Appreciation Thread 2
Cassius Clay
Was a 'thick-skulled' Human with 'low' intelligence.
His Aptitude Test indicated that he was borderline mentally retarded.
Yes, he may have been 'street smart' in the Boxing Ring, and whimsical in front of
an 'All Believing Press'
But, the clown was a 'Looney-Bird'.

Re: The Muhammad Ali Appreciation Thread 2
Not being intelligent in an academic sense does not make you mental.
Although you could be the exception to the rule.

I did not say that 'not' being an Academic means that you're mentally retarded.
Cassius appeared to be 'quick witted', just not book smart.
You wouldn't let him operate any Heavy Equipment, would you ?
Let's put it this way.
Would you let him mow your lawn with a Wheel Horse Tractor, if there were young children around.
Case Closed.............
