Most surprising KO/TKO artists?
By this I mean fighters that started their careers looking feather fisted, then out of no where started KO/TKOing people.
Lee Selby - Currently active - Started his career with 1 stoppage in his first 10 fights and looked very weak, but has 6 stoppages in his last 9 fights since, and all in pretty good fashion.
Who else can you name that was like this?
Re: Most surprising KO/TKO artists?
Eubank Jr was getting unwarranted shit.
I said at the time though its just a matter of him being too tense and as he progresses he will loosen up.
Re: Most surprising KO/TKO artists?
Rockin Rodney Moore , he started as a light puncher then fought Victorio Belcher and went on a really good ko streak at contender level, knocking out good fighters like Sammy Fuentes and Louie Lomeli.
Re: Most surprising KO/TKO artists?
The ultimate one may of been Tommy Hearns.
Re: Most surprising KO/TKO artists?
Evander Holyfield really surprised me with his power. From being not a true power puncher even at cruiserweight to knocking down Riddick Bowe and knocking out Mike Tyson...those were shocking to me.
Juan Manuel Marquez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales...guys who were just good solid technical fighters had some pretty nice KO's.
Re: Most surprising KO/TKO artists?
Hector Camacho Sr. I just never knew when he was going to step on the gas and stop someone.... just never knew!!
When Camacho was in a fight, much like Gatti but for different reasons, you had to watch because you never knew when hew was going to turn it up a notch.
Re: Most surprising KO/TKO artists?
Most surprising one punch ko’s were Nunn v Kalambay and McCallum v Curry.
Re: Most surprising KO/TKO artists?
Amir Khan has stopped/ dropped a surprising amount of fighters.

Agreed but I would say in Lyle's defence, Whitaker did score some important and impressive stoppages. Lomeli looked a good win at the time; as you mentioned Nazario, who was coming off beating Rosario; and then you had the super fight saving (Vs De La Hoya) stoppage against Hurtado.

Pernell is not known as a power puncher he's known as a very slick defensive fighter YET he could and DID have some very impressive KO's.
Re: Most surprising KO/TKO artists?
Julio Ceasar Chavez Jr. started out as a skinny volume puncher that could barely crack an egg. Despite hitting the dank instead of training, he had lineal champ Martinez on the verge of being stopped after landing some good shots. He definitely has become a ko/tko threat after a less than stellar start. The juice/PEDs have helped!
Another guy, to a degree, was Arturo Gatti. I remember watching him as a featherweight, and he was a very slick boxer who could punch, but was more boxer than puncher (watch his fight vs Patterson). He fell in love with the crowds admiration/support as well as the thrill of the knockout and turned into a hell of a knockout threat.
Re: Most surprising KO/TKO artists?
Sven Ottke v Mundine was a very pleasing KO.
