adjusting your life around boxing
Hey, perhaps this should go in off topic but I recently accepted a new temporary job to bring in some extra cash.
I think it should last until around Febuary with the possibility of full time work at the end of the contract. Thing is when I was discussing scheduling with them watching boxing was my primary motivator in accepting which shift I will work.on certain days I will actually be working eighteen hour days but I was adamant on keeping my favorite boxing days open even it it meant suffering on certain days. Has anyone else ever done this. Making your work schedule with watching boxing in the front of your mind. I seriously notice myself going into a strange type of withdraw if I don't catch a live match, be it on TV or traveling to one of our local casinos to watch a fight. Just wondering if this sounds insane or if you can relate or have done similar things. Don't hold back I. Your answer, if I am losing what little sanity I have left . Sorry again if this should be in off topic but I do think it can squeeze by in boxing talk.

Never had a problem with a job because my job I work Mon-Friday and when I was working a minimum wage job when I was younger the store closed at 10 and boxing/MMA here would start at 11:30 or later.
I've skipped a lot of parties and social events over the years to watch MMA or boxing though.
My high school prom night fell on the night of a big UFC event (Tito vs Liddell 1) and me and a few of my fight obsessed buddies skipped safe grad and brought our dates to a hotel so we could catch the UFC.

Re: adjusting your life around boxing
Used to but its impossible now with two young dogs. Plus I just don't have the time period really. British domestic as far as viewing is a main stay for me especially with the solar eclipse of winter. I have tendency to watch to much so the summer is great for me. Nothing like fishing at a pot hole lake at midnight with the Sun glaring above your head or tenting a couple of days on a range . In order to be a serious fan imo you have to adjust life somewhat or find the time. I certainly do not buy Ring religiously anymore. Ice fishing is a giant pain in the ass and for me there has never been any real benefit. And if you get skunked, you feel like cutting the frozen tips of your fingers off. I try to do the least possible outdoors in the winter as I can when its dark all the time and 30 below beyond taking my dogs for a storm. I tend to burn a lot of bandwidth str3aming in the winter and often overtake my 100 gig cap. The sport most definitely occupies time daily.

Yes I would drag my girlfriend now my wife round the country, in the early 80s, to cinemas
to watch live fights, one I remember the place was full of lunatics, in Liverpool SRL V Hagler
Leeds Duran V Hagler , that's why I loved the 80s great fights great times.
Yes lads the love of boxing, and the love of my life been together 30 years, hell that women
has seen a lot of boxing.:)
Re: adjusting your life around boxing
I'm much better with it now, very rarely will I miss something to watch a boxing or UFC event, but when I was younger I was pretty bad with it. A real fight nerd.
Re: adjusting your life around boxing
But it is what it is I guess.
Re: adjusting your life around boxing
Lately job and mechanical difficulties with my recorder and a wife who thinks the world revolves around her make me remember and keep in mind always, "Where there is a will there is a way"
Re: adjusting your life around boxing
I had to adjust to the fact that boxing moved from terrestrial TV to sky. That has cost a fortune.
Re: adjusting your life around boxing
Since PPV has crippled the chances of watching a great fight on a tv network, I never have to worry about spoilers.
The last two jobs I worked in the past 12 years, noone really watched boxing. So I could go two days or three without knowing who won, then on a Sunday afternoon, just watch all the fights I recorded via vhs, then dvd, now dvr.- as if it were just coming on.
Re: adjusting your life around boxing
Just to follow up, these hours are killing me but at least I can see the fight tomorrow.
