Bernard Hopkins (Jan 15 1965 - Nov 9 2014) Tests Positive for PED
Re: History in the making: Hopkins - Kovalev
Here we go Hopkins! Here we go!
Re: History in the making: Hopkins - Kovalev
thing I think helps him is he's at the point of his career that he can't really lose, even if he loses Hopkins is almost 50, so it's a win win regardless, so he doesn't have that extra pressure on him that the younger guys do, making him more confident in the ring, add in his experience and craftiness and that's what makes B-Hop a bad ass
Re: History in the making: Hopkins - Kovalev
People say Cleverly would have won if he had boxed against Kovalev.
TBH, I don't think it would have made much of a difference, since Kovalev is so good at cutting off the ring.
What people don't realize is that Cleverly WAS boxing him in the early parts of Round 1, working behind the jab. It's just that Kovalev, for the most part, was winning then too. The punch stats in Round 1 showed that Kovalev was outlanding Cleverly

Cleverly was an unproven, gutsy kid.
Hopkins is a proven legend.
I think he will win.

I'm not saying Hopkins and Cleverly are comparable, I'm just saying that I don't think Kovalev is the crude slugger some say he is.
What Kovalev needs to do is work Hopkins's body and keep his work rate. Make his old legs move.
