what makes an ATG besides his record?
Personality? Character? Influence? Belts? Title defenses? If a guy is 50-0 and dodged and ducked tough fights and fought once every 16 months....can he be an ATG? better yet, can Aaron Pryor for example who most say had only two fights that were noteworthy, be an ATG? what about Gene Tunney? What about Buster Douglas or Neon Leon WHO CAN BOTH CLAIM TO HAVE BEATEN THE GREATEST? jess Willard and Rocky Marciano can also make that claim as can Hashim rahman and Oliver McCall
Re: what makes an ATG besides his record?
Consistency, duration of career, if the fighter moved up in weight, who was his competition, did he have rivals, if so how many, how did he do vs them, did the fighter win belts, did the fighter unify belts, if not why, who were the other top boxers of his era.
Stuff like that I guess
Gene Tunney is an all-time great, he beat Harry Greb and Jack Dempsey....pretty damn solid. Buster Douglas was inconsistent as was NeonLeon. Marciano was perfect in his record and very consistent. Rahman and McCall also very inconsistent.

Re: what makes an ATG besides his record?
The only thing that defines someone as great is an endorsement from Bill Paxtoms neighbour. Without that, forget it!
Re: what makes an ATG besides his record?
To be an ATG you need to show you had heart and courage, a rival or two that you competed against, quality fights and performances, domination of your peers in your generation.
