How would you rate Pacquaio in the ATG if he beats Mayweather?
As a fan of Pacquiao ( I won't deny it coz he is the only Filipino who has become p4p king and who has beaten almost everybody) and despite his losses, I would rank him in the same category as SRR, SRL, Duran, Ali, etc.
For us Filipinos, this fight would truly define Pac's career and his place in boxing history. As a country, where boxing is considered as way to escape poverty, Pacquaio beating Mayweather would be the best thing that ever happened to us in recent history.
Your opinion guys?

Obviously manny is a huge icon in your country so he is already up there as one of the greats.
Shame that marquez is past his prime and over 40 years old as a rematch and a win for manny would be enough for him to retire on.
Bottom line is manny has no say in who he fights next and didn't even know he was fighting algeri.
I hope you get the ending you want but putting all the eggs into one basket in one fight should not define a whole fighters career.
Manny is a great fighter and can retire tomorrow with his head held high as a true hall of famer..
Thanks bro. Btw, merry Christmas to you and your family.
I am celebrating Christmas with Saddoboxing to cover the years when I was not around. ;D;D;D

I don't celebrate christmas but thanks anyway and have a happy new year.
Ever been to any of mannys fights?
Never been to his fights. I am a working man and I don't have the time to watch live fights. hehe. I've been itching to watch one of his fights but my schedule won't allow me.
Re: How would you rate Pacquaio in the ATG if he beats Mayweather?
Have to rate him very highly. Between Floyd would be a huge accomplishment.
Re: How would you rate Pacquaio in the ATG if he beats Mayweather?
What if Floyd beats Pac ;)
Re: How would you rate Pacquaio in the ATG if he beats Mayweather?
Oddly enough it does not change his standing in my view because of the when. The reverse is also the case. Manny is a first ballet Hall of Famer, arguably the best Asian fighter that ever lived and a top 25 ATG regardless of nationality.
Re: How would you rate Pacquaio in the ATG if he beats Mayweather?
It would be a HUGE notch in his belt obviously.
If the fight had happened in 2010, the winner would have been the biggest thing in boxing history without question IMHO.
Now, it's just not the same because both guys are at the end of their careers. I think their legacies have already been written, they are just coming down the home stretch now.
No matter who wins, it'll never recapture what was lost in 2009/2010.

I agree. Pac is no longer the same. He is 37 now if I am not mistaken. Arguably, no longer in his prime considering the many battles that he had gone through. I have just watched again his 2nd fight with Morales and I believe because of Pac's all out fighting style, it may have taken a toll on his health and physical abilities. I have just realized that he was at 128 lbs when he had his 2nd fight with Morales which was supposed to be at 130 lbs. The jumps he made ( against Hatton, Cotto, Margarito, etc) really makes him one of a kind but it has its repercussion in the end. After his fight against Cotto who was naturally bigger than him, Pac may have started to decline without us noticing it because he became a more complete boxer. Nevertheless, his fight with Mayweather ,if it happens, will still be very exciting for me.

It'll be exciting for everyone I think, I'll definitely watch it.
I think that no matter who wins, there'll always be that debate as to what would have happened in 2010 when both guys were seemingly at their peak.

I agree with you no matter what happens now people will always go back and say the fight didnt happen when it should have. And going back to each of their careers, both are ATG and and first ballet Hall Of Famers but there will always be the question of why they didn't fight while each one was at fault at one point or another.

That has been the unfortunate truth for quite some time if people from both sides are honest with themselves. Its still relevant because of how economically huge it is but purely on legacy, a loss or win does not make or break a thing on either side.
I've often wondered how Robinson would have fared against a prime Armstrong. I'm a fan of both men and consider that loss on Armstrongs ledger about as much as I do the victory on Ray's. Not very much. Now this is not the same thing as Manny/Floyd although on the slide are much closer to equality then the Ray/Hank example but its on the same side of the page.
Anybody in boxing circles who claims they would not look forward to and watch the fight is a liar but the crow that would be attempted to be served afterward by the winning side would be unjustifiable given all the facts.
Re: How would you rate Pacquaio in the ATG if he beats Mayweather?
I would love Manny forever if he beats Floyd and he would be on my atg list.:)
Re: How would you rate Pacquaio in the ATG if he beats Mayweather?
I agree on all points in that Pac has already cemented his position as an ATG and doesn't need to beat Floyd to achieve that. It's also true that beating Floyd now will not be viewed as highly as having beaten Floyd several years ago. People will immediately say that Floyd was over-the-hill, and we all know that boxing fans don't need too much of an excuse to come up with a million other excuses.
