Who takes over from Floyd?
Like him or not, PBF Is the Man! He may retire in 6, 12 or 18 months time depending on what you believe. Long term , who is going to take over and be the main man over the next few years, bearing in mind they won't be taking over tomorrow. The contenders are:
Pacman - too old to Take over long term.
GGG - age and lack of serious rivals could be a stumbling block, along with physique. GGG IS A MW. Fighting at LMW is a problem, can he shed half a stone without draining himself? And fighting at SMW probably takes his power away as well as leaving him at a massive reach disadvantage.
Danny Garcia - was going the right way, but has drifted recently
Broner - next!
Thurman - still a bit of a way to go, but you never know.
Canelo - no doubt he's gonna be a big star, but he'll always have that schooling by Floyd hanging over him, and would he beat GGG?
Rigondeaux - no doubting the talent, but will he capture the imagination?
Kovalev - can he make the LHW division fashionable?
Then there are my 2 favourites......
Terence Crawford - looking the business and there have already been rumours of going up to Light Welter. Very exciting.
Nicholas Walters - very watchable , very destructive and looks big at the weight . Looks like he could go up the weights.
Thoughts.......
Re: Who takes over from Floyd?
Terence Crawford and Nicholas Walters would be good but I have a feeling it could be Wilder.
Maybe Wlad gets some recognition.
