Boxing analogies?
I love analogies in boxing; they’re my favourite. They’re probably why I find Teddy Atlas tolerable and maybe even why I pretty much regard him as a God amongst men lol.
Analogies in general are good for boxing. Generally, I find that if you can get someone thinking abstractly, then you’ve got them thinking outside of the box, which is only beneficial
I wondered if any of you have any analogies that you’ve heard, or even coined, that you thought were pretty cool.
I’ll start:
Hitting your opponent, is like breaking and entry – you need to plan your route.
Imagine your entering a house; You need to know where the front door is and where the back door is. Are you going out the back window, is it safe? Are you raiding one room, or are you going to try and get to all of the rooms? If so, think about laying some traps because chances are you’re not going to make it out undetected.

Hit the body and the head will fall.

Re: Boxing analogies?
Boxing is like pulling up a chair at an all-you-can-eat buffet: you bend your neck down and start shoveling, until the other guy calls the waiter.

Boxing is like Boxing: if you box, you can be a boxer.

Boxing is like life, you get everything figured out and running smooth then you get old.

Re: Boxing analogies?
When Mike McCallum fought Herol Graham He said the head moves the body doesn't.
Great words from the Body Snatcher.

Re: Boxing analogies?
Atlas had off the wall analogies IMO.
The one where he talked about walking through a bad neighborhood- you wanna get thru it real quick.
I guess he meant fighters whose inside game-was the last place to hang out?
Or when Dingaling Man Wilson landed that Godzilla lefthook on Nwodo- strange analogy from Atlas about coming back from behind- Wilson was down on the cards.
Atlas: Wilson has that eraser, I don't know what hand your teacher uses the eraser with, but this teacher Mr. Wilson uses the left hand.
That left hook did erase the score card deficit.
If anyone hasn't seen that knockdown....I said DAMN!!! BRB....
