Inevitable send off fight on the world level for Burns, there is no way he can win.
What happened to Ricky Burns when he looked world class against Kevin Mitchell and the beat downs he suffered subsequently. Is it age, the weight or desire gone out of him?
He's an over achiever in the sport and he should be extremely proud of his accomplishments. He's had some great wins but at the highest level he's not got it anymore. 135 is a brilliant weight class, especially domestically at the moment. He should look to try and have some big fights against fellow domestic fighters. A beating from Figueroa might pay well, but won't help prolong his career if he intends on carrying on.Quote:

I really like Figs. Want to see him and Santa Cruz but don't know which way they are going in weight. Fig is a warrior. Took a lot of shots his last fight as that defense is an issue for him. He keeps saying he's realizes and is working to improve it but he can't help but rumble, it's just how he likes to fight. this is a great fight for figueroa. a solid name on his resume that he should win pretty handily.

yea this was bullshit. The fight was supposed t be at catchweight of 136, then Figueroa wanted 138 and now 140. Take it or leave it offer and suppose Burns is happy to take one last payday. Doubt it goes the distance.Quote:
