What is the most disappointed you've ever been about anything boxing related?
For me, it's the poor quality of today's boxing writers.
How about you?

Muhammad Ali
May 1979
For selling his WBA Championship Belt for $400,000 to Bob Arum.

Lennox Lewis sold it $1million to Don King rather than defend it against Ruiz. Inflation.

That's true, he wanted no part of the Quiet Man.

To answer the thread, probably that Mayweather/Pac didn't happen in 2009-2011 when it meant something.

You can not be serious! Lewis beats Ruiz is 2 rounds just like the South African Botha.
Re: What is the most disappointed you've ever been about anything boxing related?
Say what you want about Quiet Ruiz, but he was not a bum like Botha!

Malcolm Tann was disappointing as a prospect...I thought he may have had a chance to do something had he been guided correctly.
Laurence Cole as a ref was horribly disappointing in the calls he made and did not make
Re: What is the most disappointed you've ever been about anything boxing related?
Tough question, as there's been many.
But I'll go with CJ Ross seeing a tie..... TIE..... in the total whitewash shutout handed to Canelo by Mayweather. The second most disappointing thing was not having Ross investigated on suspicion of accepting bribe money from the Sulaimans.
Re: What is the most disappointed you've ever been about anything boxing related?
Pretty hard to top this 5 year jokathon ride when you consider other fighters like Leonard/Duran going to the dance twice in 6 months.
As far as pure downer goes its tough to top King's scheming to get the Ali/Holmes fight and Larry and him for actually going through with it.
Closely in second place would be the Wbc since fragmenting from the Wba. They have been a total dumpster fire for the last 40 years.
edit:And the fact that most fighters seek out that particular piece of tin after all the evidence is in is also ongoing disappointment. If it was the oldest I might turn the cheek a little but.....
Re: What is the most disappointed you've ever been about anything boxing related?
Angelo Dundee
January 1981
Trying to convince Muhammad Ali to give it 'one more try' after getting demolished
by Larry Holmes.
Word has it, that Angelo was having a 'new home' built in Miami Beach, and he wanted
to squeeze another $250,000 {Trainer's Fee} out of Muhammad's hide before he was sent out to pasture.
Re: What is the most disappointed you've ever been about anything boxing related?
Jones vs Tarver 2 was a disappointment for a couple of reasons.
1. The fight should not have happened in the 1st place.
2. The knockout.
And I think Manny vs Floyd will be a let down.
Re: What is the most disappointed you've ever been about anything boxing related?
Off the top its the Golota-Bowe riot. It made you feel sick.
Or watching Butterbean being the headline in final USA Tuesday night fights
Eder Gonzalez v Juan M Coggi 1 and a clearly criminal referee get away with it
Ko Nation on hbo :-X
"Youth, Silver and Emeritus" bullshat trinkets. Boxing has turned into everyone gets a gold star
Mann Act
Holyfield's clearly impending tko of Tyson ending on 'The Bite'
The lack of ring card girls actually carrying cards around the ring
Losing Mills lane
Needing to stay up until 3 AM every night to watch boxing in the Olympics
The utter uselessness of catchweights
Watching James Toney be knocked down on a counter to his own chicken dance v Jones
Frankie Randall being screwed and knowing it was coming all along
Re: What is the most disappointed you've ever been about anything boxing related?
WBC and King trying to take the title away from Buster Douglas after he knocked out Tyson was scandalous.
