Floyd has had trouble with southpaws but Pac is no a slick or conventional southpaw. I think he will cause some issues but Floyd always adjusts and will counter and win.
I've always hoped he would turn it into an infight. His defense is designed for infighting.
Agreed on Manny, he's far from what I would classify as a Slick fighter. I think the biggest thing working against him is that hes very predictable. The things riding in his favor is that he still seems to have his legs more that floyd does, and he's busy. Floyds got the reach; he's bigger at the weight and will try to dictate the pace of this fight and occupying the middle of the ring and force Manny to pick at him from the outside while he uses up more and more real estate in the middle of the ring. This will essentially pin manny down by taking away his kinetics that he uses to mount his offense. Floyds strategy is to pre-empt manny and disrupt him before he can get busy and potshot him and have him constantly reset while being backed up. So its in Manny's best interest to mix his approach and use his angles. That double jab that he uses to set up his attacks has become like a cowbell around his neck, it signals all the big punches.
The thing about southpaws is slick, conventional or awkward, fast, unconventional.. the mechanics place you in the same position and the angles an ortho uses against you are the same, its just the when and where and that changed. That lead right is something Floyd uses over and over again no matter what the stance of his opponents. So the reach advantage is really going to play big into that one. Manny's double jab is an open invitation to get popped with it straight down the the middle.
Indeed Manny is very predictable. When he bobs left and right he will only throw the left when his shoulders are moving left to right. Or stationary. When his shoulders go right to left he only throws the right hook from far right until upright. From upright to far left the only punch he throws is the backhanded jab.
Then there is his straight line offense like you said it is like a cowbell.
The key for Manny to keep him unpredictable is angles and angles of punches. His movement tells what shot he will throw but not in what manner(trajectory). And while his torso movement is a tell, his foot movement blurs things.
If Floyd's legs are as bad as they were verses Maidana Manny can move around fire his shots and get out before Floyd counters. If Floyd has his legs right I see him popping Manny from distance and hitting him flush with counters when Manny attacks.
JMM times his counters and makes Manny over stretch so imagine what Floyd will do to him.
i've always been a big marquez fan. Marquez does indeed time manny and eventually adjusts to the speed and picks up manny's rhythm and then adjusts and set traps. Marquez almost guaranteed himself scoring punches the longer extended his combos. Manny is very explosive but brief while engaging his opponents. So sticking around and being last with those extra shots guarantees more stationary target after pac exhausted himself and gassed momentarily. After a while you almost see Marquez waiting for those opportunities to snap Pacs head back.Quote:

As much a floyd shelled up tried to weather the maidana maulings, I don't believe he will be as eager. Floyd wants to sit back and disrupt mannys rhythm before he even gets started so he can keep manny from getting too happy and insure himself longevity into the later rounds.
