Should Hamed be placed over Donnald Curry for example?
Has Curry not been inducted? That is a scandal.
I don't think that any of the modern guys belong.
It seems the HOF is running out of choices when Hamed gets in on his first shot.
Outside of two badly faded fighters in Vazquez and Kelly, who did Hamed beat to even get mentioned?
Its like maybe the HOF should induct every two years instead of every year. I liked Hamed, but how is he a Hall of Famer?
And what two decades later Mancini just now making it?
Some of the other selection like non-fighters I'm either way- like Jim Lampley being inducted. Now referees I'm cool with.
This year is Steve Smoger who is my fav of all time. That guy allows a fighter a chance. Not a quick stoppage ref and gave us some great action by knowing when to let the men fight.
I think he did a great job of letting Pavlik come back against Taylor. Another great job with Pavlik vs Miranda. even though Miranda was done a round earlier, Smoger gave him a chance to redeem himself.
Andre ward vs Froch, man, he allowed them to clinch in and out...work it out gents.
Was it Augustus vs Ward where Smoger kept saying things like Beautiful..beautiful? And then at the end, he wouldnt let them go to their corner...he hugged them & kissed them both...funny shit.
I've seen a few refs get inducted like Kenny Bayless who by coincedence started making really bad calls- the very next year. Same with Joe Cortez. He told a pretty good story about how he reffed a Tyson fight & got hit in the thigh by Mike. Next day his leg was black n blue and couldnt walk for a week.
I'm fair but I'm firm-- he said he worked on coming up with that because he was inspired by Michael Buffer's Lets get ready to rumble. & Mills Lane...Lets get it on!
The wildest inductee I can think of was when Sylvestor Stallone got inducted. While the boxing fans were head over heels for the fighters...the fighters themselves were goo-goo-ga-ga for Balboa.
Funny to watch Sly walk on stage and Tyson stands up and hugs him Haglar hugs him...but none of the boxers stood up for each other when they walked on the stage. LOL
