Why are there loads of good Dutch kickboxers, but not boxers?
Dutch kickboxing is flying and they had one of the best of all time in Ramon Dekkers. But why don't they have any decent boxers? I can't really recall any Dutch boxers or haven't heard of any up comers. Rico Verhoeven is the current glory heavyweight champion and he's great but you don't hear of any boxing. I wonder why?

I've just looked at boxrec and there is literally hardly anybody and they have nobody fighting at the weights below lightweight

I wondered this, because the Dutch excelled at Muay Thai because they put more focus on the hands and combination punching than the Thai's did.
I guess pure boxing is just not popular there. People flock to what is popular and available I guess.

The Dutch Boxing Association requires professional boxers to undergo annual examinations, including a brain scan. However, attempts to introduce neuropsychological testing have failed. Doctors at the ringside are not required to have specific training in brain injuries.
The council wants neuropsychological testing to be part of routine annual examinations. If cognitive abnormalities are detected a boxer could be barred from boxing for life. A boxer who is knocked out should undergo further neuropsychological tests and be suspended until symptoms of acute brain injury abate.
The report also says that boxing should be banned for everyone aged under 16 years, that boxers should be fully informed about the health risks, and that ringside doctors should be trained regularly on the prevention and detection of brain injuries.

If you getting into boxing i would say you're "special" Or you have interest of it, its not like you will beat the shit outa someone because boxing is more like a sport, more passion i would say, My personal experience is that if you into boxing you been introduced to it. by a father, someone you know boxed.
About the MMA It's mostly younger guys, mostly young guys teaching as well, it's a sport which the rounds don't last more then 5, its basically in and out. beat the shit out of that guy, he's on the ground kick him, no sympathy. I dont wanna judge anyone or anything but if you read the background of MMA fighters, i should add even some boxers have a rough background. I don't wanna say like you fight because you had a rough background but a lot of them do, I have a lot of things in my mind right now but not sure how to put them down in words, i guess it might be that hangover from yesterday, this morning i put up a lot of no sense.

Tyson Fury was training at a kickboxing gym for a while a few years ago with Rico Verhoven. He was sparring Verhoven and Daniel Ghita.
Fury and Verhoven were winding Ghita up on twitter last year about ghita getting beaten up in sparring by Fury;D

I saw Tyrone Spong on Eurosport this weekend and he was awesome and scored a devastating knock out.
