Will there be episodes on HBO / ShowTime ?
I've wondered this as well, it should really be HBO as their production value in general is better than Showtime by the seems of, but either way they will have to try and make it good. How long before a fight have the 24/7's generally started airing?
I asked this question yesterday to my mate lol
This fight really doesn't need one, it sells itself anyway and i doubt either camp is gonna want to give away any inside info (sparring footage etc) for a fight this big.
38 days to go is there really time to do it anyway?
I'd have thought we'd have heard some news by now if something was going to be screened.
I'm rather sure they announced each would do 1 episode. But perhaps that changed to not doing it at all. If they show 1 episode each it will be week of the fight.
Apart from the fight not needing one (remember they are just adverts to sell fights)
1. Manny is boring as fuck.
2. Last time Showtime made "All Access," Floyd ended up in front of the Nevada Athletic Commission saying the show was a load of fake bollocks.
When they made the fight both networks decided not to bother. The fight would sell itself was the reasoning.
Showtime could have made a show and shown it on CBS which is free-to-air network TV in the States. HBO could have made a show and shown it on CNN which most Americans have. If there was ever a fight that non-boxing people might have been interested in and shelled for the PPV it's this one but for some inexplicable reason the networks didn't bother. Watch HBO shell out for the future Manny-Crawford 24/7 (or a fight just as dire).
Still I would enjoy some sort of background program on the fighter which would show some material of pre fight training and such
Hbo will do a special on Manny and showtime is doing one on floyd.
Anyone involved in this fights promotion would be negligent not to take/make every opportunity to sell this fight. Justin Beiber face is another demographic. Most people thatby this fight aren't even casual fan. More like bandwagon fans. While the fight has the recipt base, to make it palettable a chef's touch gives it that desiable tease look. We are all hoping for a flavor that brings enjoyment. While the word is out, not everyone will pay to get inside. Mc Donalds is not the best burger in town, yet they sell more than anyone.
Apparently Showtime is doing a 4 part series "Inside-Mayweather vs Pacquiao" episodes will premiere on Showtime and also later be run on CBS Sports. The cool part of this is it will have an epilogue with fight night and post fight inside access on May 9th.
Premiere episode
April 18th following Chavez Jr. fight
2nd episode Apr 25th at 7:30
3rd episode Apr 29th at 10
Epilogue May 9th(sorry I don't remember the time)
As Manny and FLoyd sis both figure on such show more than any other fighters, I am not sure that it would be that interesting anyway. The cool thing is to discover or rediscover a new time how they train, how they manage camps but personally, I'Ve seen Floyd and Manny so many times on these shows that I am not interested to see the same damn places once more.
Plus, as it has been stated, this show sold itself overnight. 5 years of waiting just did that.
