Weight
In the modern World of boxing, with so many experts involved doctors, nutritionists etc, why on
earth do top flight fighters don't make weight.
Fighters have a good idea, that they can't make weight and trainers no also, there fighters in side
out, strange we still see fighters in title bouts not making weight.
The fights continue but would you say, is this done on per-pus to have advantage in the fight ,
is it out right cheating,

Re: Weight
Im not sure, but the body is not a machine and people change over time. Sometimes its just a case of overestimating how much you could lose. Mayweather/Marquez was always dodgy for me. You can understand a fighter who lets themself go struggling, but a xenomorph like Floyd? Who knows for sure.

Re: Weight
Hey Rich, top flight fighters don't make weight because as Rocky Marciano stated "Its hard to wake up at 5 o'clock in the morning when its snowing out, with your silk pajamas on, and go out and run 5, 6 miles."

Re: Weight
Not making weight should be punished with not just money withdrawal(if its in the contract), but that they are not allowed to fight for some time because of some health evaluation (maybe braindamage and hormones are bandits in not making the weight). And the purses fighters recieve today are way too big compared on what they deliver. Of course they lose hunger for making weight knowing that they still keep a big amount of money even though they dont make weight. Its natural. Keep them hungry, make them fight like hungry men who sacrifice theris health to provide for a hungry family, just like we the workers do every day. Its a sport for gladiators, and they fought until death. These boxers just care about receiving as little damage as possible to go home and cash out.

Re: Weight
It is interesting in the era of nutrionists it happens so frequently. I think it's because some fighters know if they move a weight class up-it's their ass.
R.I.P Diego Corrales comes to mind; Pissed that Castillo failed to make weight- then his next fight it happened to him. To hungry & incapable to make weight, but got blitzed by Joshua Clottey when he did move up. Same happened with Nate Campbell- I think he tried to make weight (and failed) because he felt he wouldn't be able to deal with the next weight class.
