Golovkin wants dream fight with Mayweather
You simply gotta love this guys attitude to the fight game, proper throwback fighter and easily the most exciting boxer out there today ;)
Gennady Golovkin says he'd love to fight pound for pound great Floyd Mayweather Jnr after he's deposed of Willie Monroe.
The Kazakh star faces Monroe in Inglewood, California next Saturday (May 16) and is full focused on the task at hand, but when asked if he'd like the opportunity to face Mayweather this September, his enthusiasm was clear to see.
"Of course, it is my dream fight. Obviously, Floyd, he is a great champion, and a little bit different style. Floyd, he's a smart guy," Golovkin said.
"He does a lot of moving. For my style, a little bit different, I like drama show, I like real fight, like close fight. I want show, big show; big drama show!" ;D
In reality the fight is unlikely to happen. Mayweather is welterweight who occasionally flirts with light-middleweight, while Golovkin is a big middleweight and is probably too big a risk for the self-styled Money.
One match that could well happen, though, is against Miguel Cotto. The Puerto Rican is now campaigning at 160lbs and won the WBC crown by beating Sergio Martinez last June. Cotto is currently scheduled to defend against Daniel Geale at a catchweight of 157lbs, and should be prevail, Golovkin could be a unification opponent in the autumn.
"My goal is to hold all the belts. Absolutely, I hope for a big fight with Miguel because he has the WBC title, I have the WBC interim belt, and of course I want a unification fight with Andy Lee. I think he's ready and, of course, my dream fight is against Floyd," Golovkin stated.

Re: Golovkin wants dream fight with Mayweather
Now if Floyd was to take 160 by storm to end his career THAT would put him in line with the all-time greats. I don't think he will, but if he did I'd be thoroughly impressed. That said I believe 154 vs SOME fighters is the absolute highest Floyd can go and still win....if GGG got down to 154 and they fought, that would be amazing albeit dangerous.
If Cotto got a rematch and they fought at 154 I wouldn't be all that disappointed. I think Cotto would have had a better shot at Floyd PRE-Margarito, but he gave Floyd a tough time in their fight...it wasn't a cakewalk that's for certain. Cotto started to fade late, but he gave Floyd Hell and I think the closest fight Floyd was in since De la Hoya.
Cotto vs GGG, I think it would be a war, very fan friendly. GGG vs Lee would be good as well, but I think GGG wins both by stoppage

I don't see any chink in his armour really, on occasion he can be a little bit easy to hit but seems to have a solid chin anyway.
Wonder how Floyd would hold up to his power and those body shots?
It's not impossible to get Floyd backed up in the corner but if you don't nail him within a few punches he's disappeared to the other side of the ring again.

That's because you don't know shit about boxing.
ggg has more chinks than china.
First of all,
He pulls back with his hands down.
On top of that, he doesn't bring his punches back....he drops them.
Plus,
He can only fight one way, going foreward...when he backs up he looks like somebody they pulled from the seats 5 minutes before the fight.
All this in the weakest MW division EVER.

He's a throwback coward that won't challenge himself.
If Floyd were at 168,ggg wouldn't even mention his name.;D
This made me laugh:
"Golovkin is a big middleweight and is probably too big a risk for the self-styled Money"
Mayweather has taken more risks than ggg could ever imagine.
If he had one of Floyd's balls he'd be kicking asses at cruiserweight....or at least trying to.
Exciting.....He should be even more exciting considering the level of opposition.
Lara called him out....nothing but crickets...sure,you'll say he destroys Lara, but his silence is deafening.
The point being,Lara wants some, and is far and away better than anybody of golovkin's meager dance card.
Golovkin is not looking for any challenges.
If he were from America you guys would be saying the SAME THING I'M SAYING about that cowardly punching bag;D
Re: Golovkin wants dream fight with Mayweather
I hate when much bigger guys call out guys a lot smaller. Can you imagine if pacman had actually beat floyd and ggg called out manny, no one would expect manny to even consider fighting ggg but it's expected from floyd. It won't happen and it shouldn't floyd has nothing else to prove and who the fucks ggg he's not beat anyone and I'm not saying this because I think ggg beats floyd, floyd would school him and so would Lara. Ggg needs to shut his mouth.
Re: Golovkin wants dream fight with Mayweather
Id still give Floyd an excellent chance of beating Golovkin but its a couple of years too late. He took Alvarez at the right time, that was supposed to be a dnagerous fight for Floyd against a much bigger opponent but with the added age and wear its a big risk that would never match the reward of the Pacquiao fight.
Imagine being in Floyds shoes and having to fight for less than $180,000,000 again;D
Re: Golovkin wants dream fight with Mayweather
Garcia? He couldn't beat Floyd with a crowbar, that would be a terrible one sided snoozer.
I don't think there's any chance the Golovkin fight happens. If Floyd wants to make his last fight somewhat meaningful I think Brook, Thurman or Khan are far more likely and they would probably bring just as much revenue, sadly.
Re: Golovkin wants dream fight with Mayweather
I want to sex with Beyonce but it is not happening unless it is in my dreams.

I think that anytime you give Floyd a 2nd bite at the apple he'll do better than the first time because he's a brilliant boxer. It's like giving Pavel Datsyuk another shot on a goalie, or Big Papi another at bat against the same pitcher, or Leo Messi another shot on a keeper....the guy learns and learns and learns some more, put him in the same situation and he improves.
That said, I don't believe any of Floyd's other opponents are as versatile as Cotto is. Miguel can box, Miguel can bang, Miguel can switch stances, Miguel can dig to the body, Miguel has good timing, Miguel has good power....but Miguel isn't getting any younger and I don't think his skills are as polished as Floyd's are (they probably never were that polished I don't think many fighters have ever been on THAT level) but Cotto didn't need to be a better boxer than Floyd he just had to connect at the right spot at the right times. At 147 when Cotto was undefeated....I think he was ready for Floyd and that's when I thought he had his best chance of beating Floyd, but thanks to Margarito that fight didn't happen and Cotto's career was in complete turmoil for a good while, switching trainers twice and all and even going without a trainer for the Pacquiao fight.
