Alexander Povetkin v Mike Perez
While I'm mildly interested in this fight in a couple of weeks, the main reason I like it is that they have added a tagline that I could have written myself. The show is called:
"From Russia With Gloves"
I'm sure its one that's been used before, but it kind of makes me want to put on a boxing show with that kind of terrible pun in the title.
Re: Alexander Povetkin v Mike Perez
Mike Perez was my HW hope, I thought he would make the division exciting.
instead, he is boring now and hardly throws anything.
disappointing career, he has no urgency.
Re: Alexander Povetkin v Mike Perez
Winner becomes mandatory for Wilder's title.
Re: Alexander Povetkin v Mike Perez
Both guys are very good and evenly matched, this could be a real fight.
Re: Alexander Povetkin v Mike Perez
I'm saying Povetkin will win by decision and he might score a knockdown late.
Re: Alexander Povetkin v Mike Perez
This would be a cracking fight if Perez actually trained for it.
Was thinking about backing him @7/2 in the hope that he comes in like an Adonis (wishful thinking, obviously)

I backed him at 7.6/1 when odds first came out. I dont think hell win but price too good to resist. 7/2 looks right price given his unpredictability. Maybe wait til the weigh in to have your bet.

Wilder already turned down 10 million from Povetkin so Perez needs to win for him to honour the mandatory. Such is life. The Wbc has no criteria. Its a case by case basis for them.

that's good odds, I think the fight will be similar to perez v takam and povetkin v charr..Charr had some success v povetkin in the first half of the fight and regulary hit him with some nice shots but povetkin was landing teh heavier shots and eventualy got the ko and in perez v takam, pere built up a good lead but tired towards the end.. So I think perez is going to build up a nice lead and then it all depends on the conditioning of both guys both of them have had problems pacing themselves through fights, perez v takam and povetkin v huck, I it's a good bet to put money on perez, although it really could go either way.
might be hard for perez to get fair judging though, although if i remember correctly the judges did seem to score povetkin charr pretty fairly(for the time it lasted of course)

I would be amazed if he turned down that amount now.
Wlad got $18million

He did and you can check if you like. Even at a purse bid, there is no way that even Haymon beats the Russians.
Re: Alexander Povetkin v Mike Perez
There's no way Wilder turned down 10 million squid to fight Povetkin. Purse bids only happen when the fight is forced by the alphabet after the gangs can't make a deal.

Yes they did and I said that even if it went to purse bid Haymon would lose to the same Russians that outbid K2 in the Wlad fight. Eventual Wladimir Klitschko-Alexander Povetkin fight fetches $23.3M purse bid
There were stories all over the place when Haymon said Wilder was not ready.

Re: Alexander Povetkin v Mike Perez
Perez just has that feel of creeping closer to Solis ville. Not a bad match up. Looks like ESPN2 picked it up and will air on delay.
Re: Alexander Povetkin v Mike Perez
I like Perez myself. I see the fight is coming up, anyone know who's airing it in the US. Hopefully someone can post a link after the fight, with my new job very difficult to catch any live boxing. I hear what you get a are saying about Perez but I do have hope that this will be a good fight.
