Solid fighter at best
Haven't seen the fight yet, but I'm disappointed for Mitchell. From what I've seen and read, it sounds a great scrap and fair play to Linares as well. He's a proper boxer and loves the game. Even in his bad boy days he's always loved the game. I hope he comes back from this strong , but I think he'll always fall just short sadly. I just hope that when his career is over he has no regrets and has a good life.
Bit weird but I don't like the way he takes defeat so well. Needs some more spite in him. This mature version of Mitchell would have beat Katsidis and probably Burns. Bit "unlucky" his face blew up (obviously it was Linares fists smashing his face in) but he'll definitely get another shot off that. He lost to a worldwide respected class fighter in a cracking fight.
Linares and his team were very gracious winners. Disappointed for Mitchell but his 'stock' hasn't suffered. Maybe even a little raise in it.
Edit - Also thought Bilbo was back when I saw the thread title.
Hope Kevin Mitchell learns from this experience and moves on from this loss. Most other fights he would have won. I hope that Kevin does not lose hope and gives up. Remember Bruno eventually won a title and he was not half as talented at Mitchell.
Mitchell was doing very well but he was open to left hooks when he threw his own.
If they faught again Mitchell could win. Both have similar attributes but linares had a better defence which made I big difference down the stretch
