All-Time "Greats" that weren't great
How many losses can a fighter suffer before he has disqualified himself from ATG status?
Take Holyfield. He lost/drew about 12 times. Take Ali. He lost about 5 times but got about 6 GIFT DECISIONS: Jones, Norton 3, Shavers, Young, etc.
How can 11 or 12 losses keep you in the ATG Rankings?
It DOESN'T.
ATGs:
Rocco Marcheggiano (0 losses)
Jack Dempsey (2 losses)
Lennox Lewis (2 losses)
George Foreman (4 losses)
Joe Louis (2 losses)
Jack Johnson (1 loss)
Riddick Bowe (1 loss)
Larry Holmes (3 losses)

Sugar Ray Robinson had 19 losses in 200 fights. That's like the same as being 20-2, or 10-1. Yet he gets rated so highly above guys like Chavez JR, I think it must be racism.

Clay's Hero was SRR , SRR hero was Joe Louis , does that make Joe the greatest ?
Re: All-Time "Greats" that weren't great
Jack Dempsey and Gene Tunney are overrated. They never fought black fighters.

They never fought Japanese Wrestlers either.
I guess they have 'no class'.
Re: All-Time "Greats" that weren't great
Benny Leonard lost about 10 of his first 25 fights the scrub.
Armstrong was cold cocked in his debut and then lost two of his next three the water bag.
Arguello lost 3 of about his first 20, was cocked twice and once by a guy that was 1 and 0 the pin cushion.
Bunch of frauds.

Charles 'Sonny' Liston lost to '2' Clowns, and one beat him twice.
Jake LaMotta lost to a string a so-so fighters.

I doubt they fought any gunshot victims either HAHAHA
Imagine if there was a HW where the fight people felt he looked his absolute best in was against a guy who was shot by police and nearly died a year later, wouldn't that be something?
Re: All-Time "Greats" that weren't great
Never occurred to me how big Bowes gap was from Holyfield to his next closest impressive 'great' name win. Anyone seen Herbie Hide or Jorge Gonzalez walking around Canastota lately ;D
