Fighters who didn't try enough against Wlad
Which Fighters do you think are most guilty of just standing in front of Wlad with their Gloves up around their chin like a frozen statue, just standing there doing nothing just hoping to survive till the 5th or 6th round absorbing shots left and right and not trying to challenge him?
which fighters do you think are most guilty of totally under performing and under pressuring wlad?
Re: Fighters who didn't try enough against Wlad
Brock..... would you like those listed in chronological? Or alphabetical order?
Re: Fighters who didn't try enough against Wlad
David Haye.
Talked forever about how he was going to knock Wlad out, how he was going to save the HW division, how he was gonna do this and that. Got in Wlad's face outside the ring, insulted him, harrassed him, mocked him, made a T-shirt with a decapitated Wlad, hyped the fight to the highest extent...
...then did sweet fuck all and whined about a sore toe.

Do you think he could have won?

For sure it was a possibility if he landed on Wlad's chin, given Haye's considerable punching power.
That meant selling out, charging forward and risking getting knocked out himself, though, and Haye wasn't willing to do that.
A great ring general like Wlad can control his opponent and keep them from charging in. Wlad can knock you out with either hand. So I don't think it's simply a matter of guys not doing enough, it's more of Wlad taming the lion with his jab and the threat of his right hand or left hook smashing into your face.
But for Haye, a guy who talked so much trash and made so many big promises, I think he owed it to everyone to charge forward and try to make it happen.
Re: Fighters who didn't try enough against Wlad
I mean, speaking on the assumption that it would have only taken a few punches to end the fight then yeah David Haye definitely could have won that fight.
He kept giving up too much ground too quickly. His feints and weaves were working, triggering Wlad's tendency to step back and so instead of edging forward, Haye would carry on retreating and undo a crucial part of the process, which was to get Wlad to panic punch.
I think the miscalculation in Wlad's speed upset Haye, cause obviously he thought he was the superior athlete... That and the sheer difference in physicality (was not prepared to be leaned on at all!)

Barney Rubble look a like Sultan Ibragimov? Entire fight was watching two mannequins being fitted for tuxedos.

Good one!
How about Ray "Rainman" Austin?
Huge behemoth, and I thought..... oh good.... someone with the size to challenge Wlad.
Then Rainman comes into the ring like a whimpering puppy in from the cold, and lays down to take his beating from Wlad.
The type of fight where I'd preface paying the fighter with the question: "How much were you supposed to get paid for this fight again?"

Pianeta I thought could have tried harder but maybe he was rubbish anyway after watching his last performance.
