Roy Jones asks Putin for Russian Citizenship

According to the Associated Press, Roy Jones Jr. met with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in Crimea today over a cup of tea—and asked for Russian citizenship.
Russia recently annexed Crimea from Ukraine, an action that was condemned by the United States, but that didn’t stop the boxing legend’s attempt to do more business in the country.
Jones Jr. is currently in Russia to make an appearance at an event, but has plans to promote boxing in the area.
"I think that if I had a Russian passport, for example, it would be a lot easier for me to come and go, because people love sport here and so I love this place," Jones told Putin (as translated by TASS state news agency).
We have written extensively about Putin’s love for martial arts, and his bromance with aikido master/shaman Steven Seagal—who asked (and was denied by) the Obama administration to make him an official liaison to Russia.
No other details about the meeting have emerged, but Putin was into it.
"If you intend to link a significant part of your life with activities in Russia, then of course we will be glad and will fulfill your request to receive Russian citizenship with pleasure," he said.

That's funny. I'm sure Putin is an awful guy who is responsible for all sorts of suffering, but I can't help liking him from such a distance. He reminds me of those Alexander Keiths commercials about the most interesting man in the world, he just does whatever the hell he wants. Widely regarded to be the wealthiest and most powerful person on earth as well.

He's a real man's man for sure. Combat sambo/judo black belt, Kyokushin karate black belt, ex-KGB, hockey player. He would beat the shit out of Barack Obama, Stephen Harper and Enrique Nieto at the same time.

Forget all of the martial arts, judo...etc., stuff. Think about it this way: Putin went from poverty to the KGB and became a billionaire, BEFORE becoming Russia's leader. How bad ass and how many kills (not to mention cunning and balls) did this man need to accomplish that? Scary man for sure. One thing we have on him though: Dick Cheney shot a man and then that man came on t.v. to publicly apologize to Cheney. How bad ass was THAT?!?!?
Re: Roy Jones asks Putin for Russian Citizenship
Fair play on Jones Jr. not swallowing the media nonsense and wanting to branch out. Russia is just a country like any other. However, I don't think you should be able to become a citizen just because you are well known and have some money.
Re: Roy Jones asks Putin for Russian Citizenship
Jones next fight takes place in a tiny Country that until 20 minutes ago I did not even know existed. It took him a long while but I'm happy he is finally seeking out challenges abroad
But hey, at least he isn't this idiot

Re: Roy Jones asks Putin for Russian Citizenship
I like Putin.
A leader should be someone you believe would shoot you in the face for farting near them!
Not a whiney little pussy like David Cameron.
Obama is a bit soft for my taste also, but that dude kills all sorts or terrorist leaders and pirates and shit, so he gets a pass.
