Naz-vs-today's featherweight champs - Loma/Walters/Selby/Russell jr. Fact.
It was 15 years ago (15 for funks sake) today/yesterday that Naz stretchered poor Augie Sanchez out of the ring. Naz was a delusional toby by this stage but the punching power was still savagely violent.
Does anyone think the four current belt holders would have made it past 6 rounds? Personally I reckon Loma could make the 5th? The other three are lucky to see the 4th.
What say you?

Naz beats Russell Jr and Selby, but loses on points to Loma and gets KO'd by Walters IMO.
Re: Naz-vs-today's featherweight champs - Loma/Walters/Selby/Russell jr. Fact.
Walters was turned into a drunk by Donaire (who is obviously a terrific puncher himself) and "lucky" the bell arrived in time. Naz puts him to sleep.
I'll give Loma a chance of out fiddling a past his pomp delusional Naz.
The other two are defintely left kipping.
Re: Naz-vs-today's featherweight champs - Loma/Walters/Selby/Russell jr. Fact.
Naz knocks them all out with considerable ease.
Re: Naz-vs-today's featherweight champs - Loma/Walters/Selby/Russell jr. Fact.
I could see Lomachenko and Russell Jr doing what Barrera did, but if Hamed caught them it'd be fun.
Walters would be taken out if he stood and traded, I think he would be stopped late or be in survival mode to lose a decision.
Selby with a little more seasoning could hear the final bell and dare I say win, but I think he hangs just a second too long before getting back on the outside and Hamed catches him to end it.

Where are the Fenster/Naz haters?
Incidentally Naz was younger when he retired (Barrera fight) than what Loma, Selby, Walters and Russell are now. How about that?
Re: Naz-vs-today's featherweight champs - Loma/Walters/Selby/Russell jr. Fact.
Here I am! (Naz hater, anyway).
Hating the guy is one thing..... denying his talent is another.
That list is not all that daunting for Naseem.
IMO, he dispatches Selby and Russell Jr. with relative ease.
Loma would be a hell of boxing match..... could go either way, unless Loma gets careless and walks into one.
Walters IMO opinion would be more competitive than most people think.
Regardless of who fought Naz...... they'd have to wait at least 45 minutes until Naz decided to step into the ring after his magic carpet ride and behind the smoke curtain disco dancing.
Re: Naz-vs-today's featherweight champs - Loma/Walters/Selby/Russell jr. Fact.
Fun guy to watch, arrogant toad, big power, unorthodox as hell but he gets his ass handed to him by all but Selby. Gary Russell could mentally fall apart if he was fighting stiffs and then jumped in with him because he's in the same gene pool mentally as Khan, Alexander and Zab Judah but Hamed has never seen anyone that fast. Hell he went life and death with Kevin Kelly. His highlight reels stand out. The minute he stepped up he got his ass handed back. Another Broner with the same hubris disease.
Re: Naz-vs-today's featherweight champs - Loma/Walters/Selby/Russell jr. Fact.
More than a few fighters would beat him today.
Loma and walters would smash him. Nonito would end his career.
Re: Naz-vs-today's featherweight champs - Loma/Walters/Selby/Russell jr. Fact.
No body beats prime Naz, that bitch ruined him and the promoter took full advantage, with his trainer leaving him it was all downhill. This story could be applied to Tyson, Hatton et al.
Re: Naz-vs-today's featherweight champs - Loma/Walters/Selby/Russell jr. Fact.
I'm not having Naz slung in with Broner. Naz is in the HOF because he not only was a brilliant showman/exciting fighter but also cleaned out and ruled the featherweight division in his era.
Broner wont ever be making the HOF (unless they make a new category -- Greatest fighter to watch getting an arse whooping).

Naz's power covered up a lot of flaws he had. I see all four of the current champs given Naz hell. The best way to look at is to ask yourself : Who was the best guy that Naz beat ? Tom Johnson ? Maybe. A slightly past it Kevin Kelley ? Maybe.
Now would the Kelley that Naz fought or the Johnson that Naz fought, beat any of today's featherweight champ's ? I don't think so.
The first A* fighter who was in prime that Naz fought was M.A.B and he got beat. Now M.A.B did not outclass Naz or even badly hurt him, but it was as a clear victory and one that would have been repeated in a rematch.
If Naz had carried on he would have more than likely ran into an up and coming Pac-Man, Juan Marquez or Eric Moralez and if he would have moved up in weight some guy called Floyd Mayweather would have been waiting.
Because Naz never fought those people (The Elites) People think higher of Naz than they ought to.
People look back and have short memories of Naz. I remember the Naz who struggled to beat Paul Ingle, who went the distance with Wayne McCullough. I think Naz's induction into the hall of fame is dubious to say the least.
Re: Naz-vs-today's featherweight champs - Loma/Walters/Selby/Russell jr. Fact.
Nobody currently on earth could knock Wayne McCullough out. AJ, Wilder and Wlad could have a run up and they're still not putting him on the deck without a strong shove. (watch the Eric Morales fight it's a mini-classic).
Johnson, Kelley and Ingle all ended staring into the unknown.
So... if the best way to look at it is to ask yourself: Who was the best guy that Naz beat? Then who are the best guys that the current crop have beat?
