M.A.D is it about to return?

North Korea has restarted it's nuclear programme and is about to test a long range missile, on which, once they are able to make one small enough, they will probably mount a nuclear bomb.

Do you think that this will mark a return to the days when Mutually Assured Destruction between the USA and the USSR created a cold war?

The one difference here seems to be that North Korea is currently run by a more unstable and unpredictable leader than the USSR was.

I am not concerned. I think this has been around and in the hands of far more dangerous regimes already. If they tried to use a nuke then they wouldnt survive. NK is all about survival. Would they fight back in self defence? Of course. All nations would do that. Hopefully it would never come to that. The lesson of Iraq was that you should have nukes. In an ideal world you would be nuke free but I understand why a nation would desire them in the current climate.

Being able to build a stable long range missile is probably well beyond their capabilities. Being able to manufacture an actual warhead that would fit on the missile and go bang is definitely well beyond what they can do.

Yes, I agree. Mind you, Jeremy Corbyn advocates unilateral nuclear disarmament for the UK, which I disagree with. Technology cannot be uninvented, can it?

They can easily build dirty bombs which would be less lethal but still cause quite the panic. They have missiles but ones that aren't extremely accurate and eventually they'll figure out how to work them and put warheads on them, it's just a matter of time...I mean they have fuck all to do there, they aren't growing crops or anything, all they can do is attempt to extort money.

Instead of making nuclear and put the military on A level they should probably do stuff like this.
