Did you see any flaws in Golovkin.
Yes, he showed he was human and hit Lemieux when he was down and threw a punch after the bell. Those are not flaws though, not in my opinion. Slightly out of control aggression is not a flaw for a fighter.
He has a killer jab (could have beaten Lemieux with that alone), has good power in either hand, cuts off the ring well, is aggressive with constant pressure, and is always in position to throw something that is intended to hurt. His defense is great too, along with that jab he has good head movement, good footwork, and always knows where he is in the ring. Did I mention he is aggressive as hell which adds to his defense. LOL
Lemieux is not a great boxer which made GGG look great instead of just very good. What are GGG's flaws? How would he look against Cotto or Canelo?
Re: Did you see any flaws in Golovkin.
No flaws that any current MW could expose. Cotto maybe better at 154 than 160. Move up to 168 Ward would stand the best chance to expose him.
For me he moves straight back from punches. Do that one too many & Ward would adjust.
Re: Did you see any flaws in Golovkin.
His English has shown no improvement.
Re: Did you see any flaws in Golovkin.
As was already said above (Slim), he is still caught going straight back at times and (Ron) he does tip his punches be he arches away from his body prematurely to get more power on his shots, (almost like a wind up-- I wont say its a russian trait but I do see it in many of the fighters from that part of the world). He can box, but hes far from a slickster, so you wont catch him doing those subtle things on the inside like turning his opponents to get more leverage on shots from angles to compensate for compromised extension. GGG is still linear in his approach, so you have to work the angles.
While I haven't seen the lemeiux fight yet, a fighter like David who squares up a lot and gives GGG a bigger target is always going to have a hard, short night. Especially with a reach disadvantage. Going on the offensive against GGG just means he wont have to wait as long to get to you. He has that obvious advantage in power. He's not a one punch fighter (like a cotto where youre just looking to avoid the left hook) So circling away from the power hand can line you up for lead hook. Ward would line up well against Golovkin because in order to eek out a decision, ward will jab to the belly, step away, hide your head and clinch him, then hit him on the break on the way out. Just when GGG thinks this is becoming a fight and starts to exchange, ward clinches again and tries to work with one arm. the ref will separate them, ward will lunge at GGG with a jab and a right hand and then hold on for dear life. Then rinse and repeat.. Till the last round... and spend half of it like this..

Re: Did you see any flaws in Golovkin.
The one major flaw I see is he keeps punching guys so damn hard in the face that his hands are going to break!!! Seriously, the guy is a complete fighter. His defense is underrated in my opinion, and he is very effective at parrying punches and countering.
An elite, strong chinned, fast, and durable boxer can likely take advantage of his crouching style and slower feet. That being said, Ward is the only guy I see 168 and lower who fits that bill. If only one guy around his weight stands a realistic chance of beating him, and that guy is a top ranked p4p fighter a division heavier, does he REALLY have any flaws????
Re: Did you see any flaws in Golovkin.
GGG is the most balanced Middleweight since Monzon, his ring work is almost flawless. He can be hit, so could Monzon, but the punches just bounce off him. He is conditioned, balanced and has incredible power, GGG was rocking Lemieux with straight lefts. Cotto has no chance, Canelo some chance, but realistically i reckon GGG could take both of them on the same night!

Most likely he would whip either of them, but
cotto has very deceptive punching power. On some nights it is especially debilitating.
Yes he does, but GGG is a beast, a true Middleweight who could quite easily move up a division and knock everybody out at 167lb?

His biggest flaw to me is the same as 8 years ago, he tips his punches. If he will hook his left elbow gets out away from his body long before he throws it. If he is coming down the pipe his elbow is tight.
But it will take an opponent on his level to take advantage of such a thing, good luck finding that other than maybe Ward and they have shown they have absolutely no interest tangling with Ward.
He really tips his right hand. Picks the elbow up and aims it. A lot of good fighters have done this, and it often takes a really good fighter to beat them.
Re: Did you see any flaws in Golovkin.
Its hard to answer this objectively, as Golovkin has not yet been wobbled, been behind on points or seriously troubled for years. People can only answer this by guesswork or by repeated their own subjective preferences.
people slated Ali's amateur style and ring flaws for years. People pointed out Marciano's flaws all the time he was fighting .... but they both just kept beating motherfuckers up.
Same with Golovkin. We know he can box. We know he can punch. We know he has stamina. We know he has a good chin.
I suspect his issue will be a) he is already 33 so will soon be a decline, no matter what people say about modern training and nutrition and b) he will soon run out of fights at middleweight and may find he can't carry the weight up. He is not a big middleweight.

As solid as Cotto is, GGG would do way more damage to him than Pac did. No he isn't as fast as Pac, just looking at it on the basis of power. And Pac busted Cotto UP!
Then rinse and repeat line haahaaaa!!!
