Lee v Saunders 'head to head'
I'm just watching this, it was on BoxNation last night, the old dark room sitting backwards on chairs and trash talking to build the fight...wait a minute...there is no trash talking at all.
I'm looking forward to this fight but they are doing absolutely nothing to sell the tickets, I can't remember the last time I saw two fighters with this much respect for each other.
BJS - Andy Lee can knock me out with the right hook, I'm going to have to be careful of that punch
AL - BJS can box the ears off me for 12 rounds, I'm going to have to be careful of that
BJS - this is the toughest fight of my career, I have to be at my absolute best to win
AL - BJS is the toughest figth I've had, I can't underestimate him if I want to win
whilst its refreshing to see the mutual respect when you have the farcical press conferences from Fury its just well...a little boring and flat.
Re: Lee v Saunders 'head to head'
I've seen it. Agreed, absolutely pointless. This fight has had about 10,000 press conferences with the same thing said over and over again - nothing.
Good fight though, even though the casual fan is not interested.

Refreshing is the right word, almost makes me want to be a Brit!

Dull build up, interesting fight but the problem is no one is anticipating an exciting fight.

I think you are underestimating the interest in Lee in the US. The good things Steward had to say about Lee, plus the Quillin and Korobov fights have generated a lot of interest.
You know more about Saunders, for sure, so who are you picking? I'm interested! ;D
Re: Lee v Saunders 'head to head'
It's a close fight, for boxing skills BJS wins, for punch power Lee wins, that is pretty much what they have said themselves.
There were questions about Billy Joes stamina but I think he has answered them now, he's done 12 rounds a fair few times and whilst he doesn't have a tremendous amount of power left come the 12th he i always still going.

I think Saunders wins. Lee needs someone to trade with him.
Re: Lee v Saunders 'head to head'
I thnk Saunders is mediocre and Lee is going to knock him out.

I'm not having a pop at Lee, I like him. In the UK the fight has really struggled to sell. Which doesn't bother me in the slightest, i'll be watching it and look forward to it.
I'm not sure who wins. Billy Joe is a slick boxer and Lee is a box puncher that has proven himself against world-class opposition. I slightly favour Lee because of his power and experience at top level. However, Billy Joe has never been on the deck, if Lee is getting his head boxed off early, he might not catch up.
Re: Lee v Saunders 'head to head'
Fenster thats kind of how I see it going, thats why I mentioned BJS problems with looking a little puffed out in later rounds in my earlier post, he showed against Eubank Jr that he can take a dig even when he is knackered and he will be digging as deep as possible for this fight.
Re: Lee v Saunders 'head to head'
Forget personalities this is a good fight regardless. Lee had power and is exciting Billy is a quality world class boxer. It will be fun watching this fight.
We do not need boxers pretending to hate one another or build up a false rivalry.
Re: Lee v Saunders 'head to head'
B class strap , contested by 2 second raters.

I agree, I said it is refreshing to see it, the fact is though that they looked bored themselves.
The promotors must be doing their nut trying to get them to sell tickets, I'm really looking forward to the fight, more so than AJ v White, a hell of a lot more in fact.
Take a look though AJ v White has been announced as being pay per view, BJS and Lee have nearly twice as many fights between then as AJ and Whyte, they have had a hell of a lot tougher fights and lets be honest for as good as AJ looks BJS and Lee have been in a hell of a lot more exciting fights than them.
The reason that one is a PPV is because Sky have fabricated a hate story between the two fighters and thats sold tickets, the reason that the other fight has been struggling to sell tickets is because there is no...I don't know...oomph behind the fight

Yeah it's ever so much better when one fighter acts like a complete twat
I like it when fighters respect each other, I like it when boxers hate each other, but I do not like the phony bullshit some boxers do just to try to hype a fight...the all sizzle no steak guys SUCK

Thats why you will never be a boxing promoter.
If you want to sell a fight would you rather have Tyson Fury in press conferences or dull boring Wladimir Klitschko?
When is the last time one of Klitschkos fights have been on the front page of any mainstream papers?
Personalities sell. Pro boxing is a business, its like you have no idea about business or even boxing. Just look at the Lee and Saunders fight as an example. Its not selling amd how many threads are active about it here?
