I'm picking Garcia here, Guerrero isn't as good as he use to be.
Agreed, Garcia by hook or by crook.
The truth is Guerrero isn't as good as he was made out to be. He was a good featherweight and a good lightweight, but hasn't done much above lightweight. Why is Garcia facing Thurman leftovers when he could be facing Thurman? This is a waste. It's a shame when he is promoted by Al Haymon, and they have a large majority of the talent at 147, and he is facing Robert Guerrero.
Garcia needs to fight a real welterweight. This is going to be his second fight there against a small welter. I think that Guerrero would have given him trouble a few years ago because of his aggression, but he is damaged goods I think now so Garcia should win easily.
The strange thing about getting your fighters more money for fighting nobodies is that if they're not pi$$ing the money away fast enough, you've shaved a little off their desperation and that affects their willingness to take risks. In that light, I can appreciate the russian invasion... Fighting challengers in their home towns, for recognition, to support their families... collecting the belts and clearing out a division. It's not about having your favorite super car in another color or making a list of demands for your opponents or stroking your ego...
What Russian invasion? People do realize most of the "Russians" aren't Russian right? And most of these countries actually hate Russia so the boxers would be quite offended knowing people are calling them Russian. Seems like people from the UK would understand this well.
I wouldn't be surprised if Garcia loses this.
I kind of like the match-up if it leads to a bigger fight next. Guerrero is still durable and capable of causing Garcia a few problems. Should Garcia win he needs to look at the guys above him.
Guerrero is living off the fact that he fought Mayweather. Can't believe he's still getting big fights constantly.
Darth Haymon is just keeping it all in the family without cashing out his biggest chips just yet ;D. Towing us along as he also manages Guerrero. Honestly the same about not being all he was made out to be could be said of Garcia. If anything, at least Guerrero didn't tip toe his way into welterweight or shy away from bigger game. Leaping a division entirely today, beating up a top contender and running with a couple of others is indeed doing much. Guerrero earned his spot. I'm interested to see Garcia with an open opportunity to shoot his power..show he packed a left hook for the weight on a willing Guerrero but also how he handles the more adjusted hustle and work rate of a guy who can punch between the gaps and does not settle. I'm thinking this a pretty scrap all things considered
I hate pricks like Guerrero, Maidana, and probably Berto who get spoiled by fighting Floyd and just loose their hunger, drive and determination.
No pride just fat.
Robert lacks the pop to disturb Garcia. I say Garcia slowly grinds his way to a UD.
