Better opponent: Dominic Wade or Sullivan Barrera?
Barrera turns 34 next week, is he already past his physical prime?
Wade is young and hungry at age 25.
Both have similar pro records and experience, with Wade facing somewhat better pro opposition.
Both had plenty of amateur fights. Wade had a better amateur winning percentage (167-10 to 258-27 for Barrera).

On paper it looks to me like Sullivan Barrera is the better opponent due to his better amateur achievements and koing karo murat who is not bad.. It certainly could be a worse opponent for another Ward comeback fight :S I really hope hbo make ward follow through with their plan of having ward v kovalev pretty soon that will be a really interesting fight, I can't wait to see that one.

Barrera by a mile or so. Better fighter and competition and he gets the guy who has been tweeting more than fighting the last few years. It really wont matter but he's a closer threat and a better fighter. Wade is in too deep. Might as well drop a shark in his bathtub.

Re: Better opponent: Dominic Wade or Sullivan Barrera?
Barrera reminds me a little of a real bad ass Cuban named Joel Casamayor. The last Cuban to actually defect. It’s not just the fact that he's a leftie but he seems genuinely on a mission after being overshadowed by all the big contract signees. Gamboa wasted his career and so has Rigo. That’s the trouble with a sense of entitlement.
He's simply better then Wade and a better opponent but its more than just skill level. One is fighting a dominant fighter who can box as well as he can punch and at the prime of his career. The other is fighting a guy that has had some injury issues and has not had a meaningful fight in 5 years.
How much has Ward eroded sitting out? Could be that micro-second short? I have to give him props for taking this fight. I thought for sure he'd low ball his way out. And props to Barrera also because he could have just waited and demanded Kovalev. Not sure if he will lose his spot for fighting Ward but if he wins he won’t need it.

Barrera is the better opponent.
