James Toney - Sultan Ibragimov

I find it rather boring to always look at the old guard against the old guard in HW (do you remember when Tyson was forced forward instead of all this luring? :-D), what would you guys say about a match-up against James Toney Vs. Sultan Ibragimov?

I think it would be a cracker of a fight but could not predict a result.

James Toney in decent shape = UD win.

Ibragimov is pretty crappy so Toney by KO.

Toney would beat him, and it would be a very bad move to make the fight, he's not big enough to give Toney trouble imo, he is at best as good as Vassily was, unlikely even that good. I guess if Toney thought the same thing and came in at 470 it could be different.. Who cares about Toney though, I won't until he loses some damn weight.. What a joke, he's probably just going to fade away now, although he has all the potential to beat anyone if he just dropped 20 pounds.

Toney is a legend, who the legend is doing 6-7 times more than the actual figure. Toney has actually did nothing the last 15 years. He would lose against any real top 15 HW. A professionel athlethe looking like him - please let him be broke.

Toney doesn't want Peter now, or ever IMO.

Ibrigamov's pretty quick and he goes to the body well. I think he's a tougher fight than Peter for Toney simply because of his speed and activity. Sam's made for a guy like James, Sam has no jab, throws wide, slow punches, has no sense of distance, no sense of timing, no skills whatsoever. Rahman outworked Toney cause of his jab, which is incomparably better than Peter's jab, I can't see Sam doing the same. Sam has a chin and a punch, that's it IMO. Maybe he'd land and KO James but he could also make James look very good. And no, I didn't jump off the bandwagon after the Wlad fight, I was never on it.

I agree with you about Peter making Toney look good, but Peter hits harder than rock, and he's going to go for broke, unlike Rock. Toney would get hit, and it would hurt. Unless Peter was the recognized champ, I don't think it would be wise for Toney to take the chance with Peter, and I think Toney would feel the same. But I'm not Toney so I could be wrong.
