Warren's mob tweeted he'd be here Wednesday, which obviously means this wasn't meant to be leaked until the last minute.

:mad: Isn't this something the promoter/managers/somebody could make sure is taken care of during the negotiation stage somehow? This seems really common in boxing and I don't get it. Why would all parties waste the time and resources knowing full well this could happen? Obviously Rigo's not a big draw, but how difficult could it be to have this arranged when you make the fight.
It certainly makes Team Rigo look like a bunch of amateurs, doesn't do them any favours.

Pursuant to our discussion a few minutes ago, I just wanted to update and clarify for you the status of the Guillermo Rigondeaux visa matter. As a fellow promoter, I know and respect that this is frustrating for you, and I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing your March 12 event promotion. Rigondeaux went to Russia to train for the Dickens fight, and has been attempting to get his UK visa expedited there as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, they have encountered obstacles the past week or so due to a Russian Holiday that prevented the process from getting done. Rigondeaux and his training team were at the embassy in Moscow again today trying to work on it, but unfortunately were unsuccessful. Please be assured that we will continue to work on this matter with all our efforts, and are hopeful that we can get this taken care of in time to get to Liverpool for the event.
I will contact you on Tuesday to keep you updated on the status.

All parties are working extremely hard to resolve the situation to ensure that Rigondeaux receives his Visa and once confirmed a statement will be released via RocNation and Queensberry Promotions.

That's just sounds screwy. Its one thing to be have the red tape and process to blame but to have your handlers simply not file the right one is pretty inept. Bad enough the guy cannot "get big fights" now he cannot even get to the exposure and opponents he has lined up.
After that last fight of his, he can fuck off until he's ready to finish off guys he is clearly two levels above.

Looks like Rigondeaux agreed to the fight and then decided he didn't fancy it and got a plane home to Miami. I bet his new promoter is very impressed.
