Diaz Wants Ferocious Return

During a teleconference held today, WBA lightweight champion Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz, 28-0 (14 KOs), claimed that coming back “stronger and more ferocious than ever,” won’t be a problem, but if he comes home late on the weekends…it’s a big problem. Returning from a nine-month layoff, Diaz will be defending his title against Jose Miguel Cotto, 27-0 (19 KOs), on the televised undercard of the April 8 "Sworn Enemies" PPV that features Floyd Mayweather vs. Zab Judah in the main event. “I’ve seen him (Cotto) fight and I know he’s strong and undefeated. He comes forward and I come forward and it’ll be a great action fight.” A junior majoring in Government, the 22-year-old University of Houston student says living with his parents helps keeps him disciplined. “We have a great relationship. They keep me in line because even though I’m 22, I still have to follow rules and that’s what keeps my boxing and school lives in line. Monday to Friday my parents don’t worry about me going out because I’m so tired from training. But on Saturdays and Sundays, if I’m not home by 11, my mom will call me and threaten to tell my manager that I’m not home and I’ll say ‘mom, I’m around the corner, I’m almost there!’” Diaz vs. Cotto is part of the Floyd Mayweather-Zab Judah welterweight championship extravaganza promoted by Top Rank and Don King Productions, in association with Caesars Palace and Wynn Las Vegas. Mayweather vs. Judah will be televised live from the Thomas & Mack Center, in Las Vegas, on HBO Pay per View.

So Diaz gonna fight Cotto's little brother. Should be a good fight.

Cotto's bro any good? Hear he was in the Olympic team and is impressive but never seen him in action though. Who you think will win?

Yeah he is pretty good. Actually looks older than Cotto in the face. He can fight though. Cotto should win. Diaz def lacks power.

actually jose is 3 years older than Miguel. I've seen him fight once and he's pretty good, but not as good as miguel. I'll pick Diaz to win but inactivity might be an issue.

This is Cotto's first fight at Lightweight. Diaz has the advantage

No he's had many fights at lightweight including his most recent against Ubaldo Hernandez.

Alot of factors could come into play in this fight that have been mentioned{Cotto's 1st fight at LW, Diaz's inactivity,etc.}, which should make for a good fight. If Zab comes to play, we could have a very good card, with intense fighting, and alot of beers!

When the Zab-Mayweather fight was first announced, noone thought it would be worth PPV{including me}. The way it's shaping up now, with the Diaz fight, and Arce, this should be very entertaining. Hurry up April 8th!

I may be misreading this, but it sounds like you are backing Diaz, yet you call him a "she". I'm guessing that was a mistake?

maybe jaun diaz is another boxer :dontknow:

I'll google Juan Diaz, and see if there IS a female boxer with the same name.

I actually think Diaz is pretty good, a bit underrated on here, but since I haven't seen Cotto its hard to make a prediction
