Freedom vs Restraint
ok this is my concern...my natural fighting style...is fast/hard/crisp punches but in the traditional boxing northpaw stance my fighting abilities are restricted....alot...well this brings me to my question..how many of you guys feel a fraction slower or a fraction to stiff like when youre made to box in a stance that doesnt suit your make up and build?
of course it could just be me lol....but i find no freedom in the boxing ring to be myself if i cant fight like me

Re: Freedom vs Restraint
if you can slip punches, i guess it's fine to be in a neutral stance (facing forward). just know you ARE a bigger target like that, but otherwise go for it

Re: Freedom vs Restraint
Well, theres a good reason that boxers use a more closed stance. Your best bet is to either suck it up, and get used to it (because you will...it just takes time) or maybe go for another martial art that suits your natural fighting style a bit better.

Re: Freedom vs Restraint
not ebing funny, but why are you fighting ina stance that doesnt suit you?
your caoch shouldnt be telling you to fight in a certian way if it doesnt work for you.
if your defense is good in your prefered stance, then adapt it.
i never fight out of the stance thativ developed, because its the one that works best for me. your not trying to be a switch hitter are you? or fighting out of southpaw when your meant to be orthadox?
